Virtual Zwift Rides

The climbs weren’t long or steep enough to break it up that much in my race so it was a bunch kick contesting 2-28 and I came 22nd.

First place rode solo out front the whole race at a very believable 4.8 W/kg (and conveniently staying just under 250W) - seems legit

She did exactly the same in race 1 (and was DQed)

Yes that’s right, call me Lance  polka dots n a climb

Caveat :- (I’d set it on 50% somehow which is a new option on Zwift climb portal)

Or you could just a do a poet and change your weight :man_shrugging:t2:

I think this is even better, makes the climb 200m instead of 400m for instance but over the same distance. I was riding with a mate and he said I went flying off into the distance and he couldn’t work it out why as he was holding 250watts and getting dropped! I was pushing but not particularly hard, so I looped back and did it again and see the option the second time up! 50,75,100 and 125% . Its good idea actually as you can do a shallower climb, or hard, depending on mood/legs on that day. Gives more options rather than just the curated 2 climbs in standard form! (i still think they shouldn’t have got rid of the do any climb when you want as it was the first month)

That explains a lot! I rode that climb at 3.5w/kg a couple of days ago and I saw from your Strava activity that you took 2 minutes out of me :flushed:

Yesterday I was about 4,000 XPs away from level 58.

Today I rode 25km and I’m now only 5,000 XPs away from level 59

I was looking at a chart and it’s pretty confusing.

Ride your bike, ride your bike, ride your bike **

Nah, it’s pretty simple really. If you were at level 60 with stored up XP you get double until your XP is used up.
Everybody else gets a discount off the XP needed to reach the next level until they reach the level they would be at if they had always been riding under the new system.

Seems they are throwing extra drops around as well. But nothing new to spend them on so you just accumulate like George Clooney in Up in the Air.

Extra drops become pretty pointless when you’ve already got 18,000,000 of them in the bank .

I think narrowing the bands makes a lot of sense. There’s not a lot of motivation to progress if you’ve got 30,000 XPs to get to the next level and it takes you months to get there :man_shrugging:

I don’t honestly get any motivation from XP or levels on Zwift.

I was motivated to get to Level 42 for the disc wheels and fugly but fast Blum TT bike. After that, I don’t think there is anything worth buying from the drop shop

I find it strangely satisfying to move through the levels, but it was less motivating when the gaps between levels meant it was taking months to get through them :man_shrugging:

Given that the total number of XPs required for a new user to get to level 100 is less than the XPs that someone already at level 60 has accumulated, you’ll have the strange situation where different people at the same level will have different XPs :man_shrugging:

I should do. Currently level 34 so it seems ages away and the benefit is marginal.

Did a TT on Bologna yday after work, 4th in Cat C, possible cat nip for getting a category upgrade as the effort was just under 20mins and flat out. Will be interesting to see what happens, W/kg was 3.6

L50 you get “Firesocks” that are pretty cool … well for 2 minutes until they get boring

Im L50 (was 49 before yesterday). Under new system I think Id be on 96 already, but at least you get to accumulate a bit quicker rather than just being moved up.

Got to say that now they’ve gone from 60 to 100 levels that I’m less bothered about levelling up, despite it being a lot quicker between levels that extra 40 seems like a long time. It would have taken about 6 years to get to 60! Plus I’ve got most of the decent kit so not like I’m after faster wheels etc.

Anyway, battered myself on the Tiny series and wasn’t too happy until I checked the results. Cruised the first race and was nearly last! Second race I was too far back going into the sprint, third race I essentially gave up with about 600m to go. Last race I seemed to get dragged along and found myself towards the front at the end but it was rising a bit. Hung on for about 21st and got some reasonable points.

Feeling it a bit now though.

I don’t know why I’m always keepn to move up throug the levels quickly, it’s not like the rewards at each level are exciting or improve your game play, unless it’s to make your competitors feel sick

Think I did level up today, did a group ride on the new route that ends up the Alpe, decent group to the bottom and then steady up the Alpe in 63, that’s the 11th time so I might eventually get the 25 ascents badge.
