With the mini races it’s quite hard to get away unless you are really sandbagging as a big group will probably pull you back?
I did the crit last night and it was 11 times up that little hill on the dolphin course, every time people would hammer it and play their P\U, even when it split the second group got back.
Having said that on the last lap someone went big with at least 2K to go and was over 7 for a minute, got a big gap and we couldn’t catch him. Either a full on sandbagger or very good at those races.
No ZRL for me so sucked up cat A and joined a crit on Glasgow reverse.
First 2 laps were hell. Can’t cope when they just doing long efforts at 5-6wkg.
Drafted like a pro, attacked the kickers, ignored the long range attack at halfway…
Contested the spirit
One of our club leads does an endurance thing each year (v.Everest, 12 hour pacer session) - announced he’s doing PRLx2…
Her response after asking how much climbing would be involved “oh that’s only 5 Alps then” - I suspect she’ll join them and just carry on for a third !!
I spend most of my Zwift races in the top 10% of W/Kg and mid pack position (Cat C - weak cyclist) which pretty much confirms the fact that I’m a poorly tuned diesel with no punch (<30% on Zwift Power).
This doesn’t sound too bad given I am training mostly for LD tri at the moment but adding some punch (sprints, VO2 max efforts?) might give me a chance to contest the win……however, does anyone think it would add anything to my IM prep or do you think the downsides (fatigue etc) will outweigh the positives?
What would a 12hr v-everest in a group equate to in terms of power? I know it’ll be affected a little by body weight and wheels of course
I’m tempted to do a veverest but around 2.5-2.9wkg so im not trashed the day after
you’re looking to level up quickly, Zwift has just posted a set of “surprise” events on the next two Tuesdays (April 16 and 23rd). What’s special about the events? Double XP!
Apparently tempus fugit tonight, so that’s probably my evening sorted
Already clocked it - but surprised they’ve only put them in every 3 hours.
Not sure its actually more productive than the climb portal tho. 45 minutes yesterday, 2 climbs up the French portal; 4x250xp, 12x10xp - plus the 22km of riding made for a nice haul.
Up to 84!
More importantly need to dig deep again to try and keep my podium bonanza going. @Jorgan how was your race yesterday? The 5 min powers seemed crazy high for a relatively flat course.
If I can get to the sprint I can be competitve in A; but getting to the sprint is very much the challenge now.
Yeah it was fine thanks; apart from my totally suspicious HR Just too tight to by a decent chest HRM strap. I was hanging-on a bit at times, and put in a dig on that last incline and down the slope before the bridge sprint to gap anyone sleeping. I was 4th iirc.
I should lose my A+ rating next month hopefully, after that utterly random 4.9w/kg back in Feb. Maybe I could just add 2kg and try and get back to B
I had a friend try that… didnt work for him
So if you have any tips
TBH other than ZRL final next week I’m not too fussed now. Ladder races use velo and mostly racing As in that anyway.
Now… I didn’t. Cause I’m a bit sceptical that it doesnt pay out as well.
When the really short climb was on - I did a stack of reps monitoring XP and I just wasnt getting the same pay out. Sometimes not seeing a 250 at all on a rep when at 50%.
So I tend to leave it at 100%.
