What a particularly crap start to Zwift after nearly 3 weeks off. Zwift update, laptop update, pairing issues and crap legs. I got dropped early in race 1 as all the faff meant short warm up, then impromptu race 2 & 3 ended up being A Cat with less than 5 riders, so me and my legs couldn’t be arsed.
Did my first ever race today as part of that Academy thing which I thought would be a good way to get started by doing a workout and then I do like a short route as a cooldown. Had no idea what was going on so just mashed the pedals for 30mins and came 7th which feels like a fluke. I’m supposed to use my drops to buy new stuff that makes you quicker as you go up the levels right? (I’m only level 8)
Make sure you set the Everest challenge that gets you the Tron bike after 50K metres of ascent, it’s one of the best all round bikes.
How to Unlock the Tron bike in Zwift | Zwift Insider
Keep your drops to get decent frames\wheels. If you don’t do TT’s then I wouldn’t bother with a TT bike.
Edit: there’s also a tritalk club.
Cheers @jeffb - yeah I’ve got the Everest Challenge on but not very high up it
I’ll see if I can work out how to join the Club so I feel part of something without ever contributing.
EDIT - seems to be invite only. You cliquey bunch.
I spotted that event, up Ventoux. But my legs weren’t ready for 30 mins at threshold after weeks off.
I thought you could just join the TriTalk ‘team’?
Nah I’m not allowed in either… Tho I barely frequent this thread
Hmm, I presume this isn’t just where you add tritalk to your name?
The team is by invite only. Probably by the admin.
I think it’s @Hammerer
Yeah, looks like it.
Just noticed that Buzz has been smashing the tiny races and is now A+
Didn’t he say he’s just been ticking over
Whats your zwift name?
You can “ask to join” now!
I’m Benoit Smithers-Jones (Feeling Groovy)
Ive accepted those that “applied” now. I could add some more to “moderators” particularly those who race a lot?
Thank-you
Apparently some more new roads in Watopia for the 10th anniversary?
Well yesterday’s ZRS event went much better; instead of getting dropped inside the first 2km I was dropped about 1.5km from the finish (last hill on Rolling Highlands).
I bottled ZRS and went an hour later in Cat B.
Winner had a 20 min of 4.9, second place was one of my team mates who’ll be back in A shortly.
I can never time that finish well, I almost got it - but as I eased off just inside 250m to go to avoid hitting the wind - I hit the wind
So went from 4th to 13th in a second - managed a second kick and past most of them in the last 125m to finish 4th.
