Virtual Zwift Rides

That was fun! Good pacing up the climb, finish came early?

Went off to finish the Baseline. 290ftp probably about right at the moment. Few more Bolognas required before it’s back over 300.

And with that we all cancelled our subscriptions and emigrated to a country without the internet :joy:

You were doing some good turns at front today!

I was about 30W down from two years ago, but that was an evening when I tend to exercise better, and I just haven’t done enough hard races of that length for a long time.

We’re on the Heathrow train some time in the afternoon, have I dodged a bullet?

Is there anything worth doing in the free 25km? Alpe dhuez?

I believe if you join an event, it won’t kick you out after 25km
So there’s both PRL full and Uber pretzel events on tomorrow if youve got 5+ hours

Although if you have been off Zwift for a while, it might make you do a few rides before you can enter a scored race- at least, it did with me. After riding around with coco for a bit it seemed ok though :man_shrugging:t2:

Should just be one ride that’s at least 10 mins long.
They changed it a few times. Trying to balance access to races v making sure those who migrated didn’t come home and smash up a cat D race :grimacing:

Rode 50km on Zwift today; could be a record  Actually planned to drop out after an hour, but :person_tipping_hand:

Having a look at some events…100km at 215W for three hours…hmm…even with double drafting, maybe not.

Cleveland CC 160km TT …blimey.

It’s good that I can plug into one event a month though, probably as much as I’d want to do, I’ll see if can face the road again tomorrow or at least try one of these, see if it does go past the 25km limit.

Cheers :+1:

Edit: Is it only the short races you lot do, or is there a chance of a group long distance one?

Is it more than one climb?

Looks like there’s a 9am or 10am option if anyone’s up for it in the morning?

The new (narrower) race score ranges are definitely making a difference, for me anyway, in terms of increasing competitiveness and enjoyment. As someone with a lowly score of 210 I found myself managing to stay fully engaged with the leaders across all 4 of the tiny races in my category this morning, take a jersey on a sprint, and come 10th overall.

Instead of the usual being dropped off the back early doors, being left for dust when everyone goes mental on the first climb, and slogging it round the rest by myself or if I’m lucky one other poor sod and coming in minutes off the winner in 67th.

Obviously there’s a bit of luck with how your score sits in the range and who else is racing, but it does seem easier to find a race that allows you to actually experience racing?

Not making much progress on this, I seem to have been bumped into Cat B in the new scoring recently. Joined the flat is fast race tonight, it felt fairly sedate but maybe the big week of cycling has helped and I hung round in the group, there was only a couple of small attacks that didn’t really stick, probably because it’s so flat with no hills for the lightweights to attack on.

Started picking up with about 1K to go and I was near the front, played the draft P\U and ended up 9th. Managed to gain a massive 12 points, currently around 285 :joy:

Finally got round to doing the tiny races again today, first two were never going to end well for me with uphill finishes and the first probably justified a gravel bike.

Third was less frenetic and had a go at the sprint and looks like I was 6th so finally got a few points.

Last one was the jungle, wrong bike so used it mostly as a C\D!

I took Pro female Lou Bates in a sprint finish today :grimacing:

Ok technically it wasn’t a race and she’d done far more efforts than me.
Nearly had a heart attack following her over a climb (she was probably z2) but I’ll take it
