Virtual Zwift Rides

Comeback of sorts with the Zwift Tiny races. After 3 months off really really unfit, and my sprint, pathetic when it’s at its best was pathetic even by my standards.

Still Tiny race fun was had, and a low benchmark set to hopefully soar over in the coming months.

I was getting very frustrated that there didn’t seem to be many Zwift races during the UK daytime of late - it’s taken me about a month to realize I didn’t have the Zwift Racing score toggle enabled in the event search :man_facepalming:

Hmm, with the new points scoring I’m forced into the next category in the flat is fast races by 1 point!

Muppet alert

Decided to do the flat is fast race tonight thinking it was a TT for some reason, so switched to the Cadex and you can probably guess what happened next  started off on the standard bike albeit with decent wheels and too late to change :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Hung around with the lead group as it thinned out expecting to get thrashed on the sprint but was up near the front and played the truck at a good time, ended up fourth and gained a few points.

Good practice as I’m going to get my arse completely handed to me on Tuesday night :grimacing:

Nowadays I generally jump on with a pace partner. I will race if there is something starting within about 10 mins of me getting logged on and pedalling……there are one or two EVO sessions or 3R sessions that I ride if times coincide.

I can chug along at a steady rate but once the W/kg start to pick up I am on borrowed time.

We had a great result last week and I was almost looking foward to this week… tho somehow we’ve ended up with a crazy strong team and I’m likely 5th best on both endurance AND sprint.
I was hoping for a top 10… .which now looks impossible thanks to my own team

I didn’t realise this was costing me £17.99 pcm. Given I only use it 1-2 times a week now, is there anything else that provides decent group rides/races? It’s the only thing I do on Zwift tbh. Apart from a 50km Festive 50 ride I did, which was effectively a ‘race’ anyway.

Check out the Zwift alternatives thread, I’m still using it quite a lot and too useless/lazy to cancel it during summer

Annoyingly i got a year’s free Zwift when i bought my turbo last spring! I’ve not set foot on the thing in over 6 months. So that ‘saving’ was a total waste of money!!

Well that was about as much fun as I expected :joy: hung on with some sprints for the first 9K while most were cruising until the bottom of the first decent climb, solo home from there for a workout.

I don’t understand if I’m a sandbagging B wtf everyone else is.
Hanging on for life on bridge and again near the alp start pens.
Struggling equally on the way back up… Having to sprint on the descent to stay in touch.
Horrible course.

That looked brutal mate. Watched a bit of it.

I’m having really dirty and impure thoughts. I’ve started thinking about getting another turbo and doing some Zwifting. Someone talk me out of it. PLEASE!

Just think of that lovely hill in Bologna

New long term challenge dropping.

Factory tour - based on your watts per kg and unlocking some lightning socks for part one and aero lightning socks for part two.

Christ knows why this has taken years…

Just read about it, seems a bit convoluted but I’ll sign up for it and rock the socks some day

Does anybody want some Zwift Play controllers?

I’ve been given a code for a “free” set (just pay postage) as a gift for reaching Level 85 apparently. I’m sure it means they are about to release an upgrade and want to shift stock, but “free”. I have a pair already so will not be redeeming.

DM me if interested and I’ll send the code. I assume it’s not tied to my Zwift ID or anything.

Def worth keeping a spare pare of Zwift Plays if you use them a lot.
Interesting to see where they go with this. A new product, trying to encourage steering in races for the next season, etc

Well they’ve gone now so I won’t be packing spares.

I use them a lot for virtual shifting, although I have a cassette not the cog, so can revert if required.

Steering is still a bit gimmicky, I don’t always remember I can steer and have only used it on one occasion that I remember to close a gap to a group by straight-lining a corner.

Navigating menus is really clunky.

Overall, happy to have them, but not sold on needing them.

I thought the same at first and don’t use the buttons, just the steering itself. Makes a big difference to my racing. I can get in to a draft quickly, stop someone drafting me, get tight on the apex of corners to reduce my distance. Helps with attacks off the front, or to bridge. Def an advantage
