Had a crack at Bologna ITT this morning. Only done the course once before as a group race. So knew this would be slower having no draft out and opted for TT bike so climb would also be slower.
Thought prev effort was 4.1 avg, so planned to go out at 4 then push on the hill.
Finished with a 4.2 avg… Only to realise my prev effort was 4.4. Two full minutes behind the group ride losing a minute on the flat then a further minute on the climb.
Bit disappointed, but I had nothing else to give today.
3rd male, tho only 12 in results
2 of the 3 females both beat me, so 5th on the road really
I like the Bologna course, something about TT ing your heart out on that 16% stretch for about 4mph of forward progress floats my boat.
Me too! I love that course. A real true test.
I’m probably keen for this mate. I am clueless as to what I have to do?
Easiest way, On the companion app go to events and just scroll down to the 3.45 pack social event and click the join button. Then after you log in to the game tomorrow and are on the main screen there will be a join event button on your screen from 30minutes out that you click to teleport to the event. You can also join from the select route screen as all events are listed in top right corner.
Ah ok, done that cheers. No TT bike! eek, what will I wear?
25 volcano laps badge ticked off which automatically brought up the 100km badge too
Thought Id get the uber pretzel done today. started at 9:30am, but had to pull out base of the alpe at 1:15pm. Really great route, prob best ive done as takes in all the climbs with plenty of fuego later on to help you through to the Alpe finish lol.
UP took me 6hr10, for reference, PRL FULL took 6hr47. I think it’s easy to underestimate the time UP takes.
I knew I’d prob just miss out. I got to the bottom of the Alpe with 3hr30 on the clock, so prob looking at 4hr30 (2pm). I had to finish at 1:30pm.
It was just me and another rider for most of the ride. If had been a bigger group and slightly higher tempo I think 4hr is possible

looks like he finished in 4hr30
God Ive done Half PRL. Bit mind and leg numbing. Can’t imagine twice that around the Box Hill.
It’s also more than twice the half!
I had a look at this, according to Zwift Insider the Route has a 10km lead in.
Have done a few of the Zwift group workouts and thus far had found them perhaps a smidge too easy, which was one of the reasons I did a ramp test last week just to see if I needed a bump in FTP level.
Saw a session that was a mix of anaerobic/V02 stuff this morning which looked challenging given the new FTP (was up from 260 to 271) so had a crack at it. My god it was insane, 2 mins ramping from 330-370W and then 2 mins at 175W recovery - 5 times, then a 6 min block on the end.
Managed the first 2.5 intervals then the legs said no more and I ended up in an ERG death spiral at the end of interval 3. Set the bias to 90% and was able to finish the remaining sets. Managed most of the sets in the TT position though which I’m happy about.
FutureWorks Boost Mode - wut?
Anyone know how these are going to work?
sounds like they are opening it up a bit more for testing. ive seen some vids of it, lot more complicated. im down for thu 2pm but 50/50 on doing it as have KOA 11am and potential TTT eve
I’ve got the option to race it the next 2 days, but given my Zwift track record and the fact I’ve got other things on I’m likely to skip it.
There’s quite a few people with youtube videos showing how it works.
Key takeaways are you pick a short but very powerful boost, and longer but more moderate boost, or a very long but relatively small boost. Your in game weight is increased differently depending on which you pick. You have to charge the boost by taking a “watts penalty” whilst charging. So if you’re doing 300w, your in-game speed would only be as if you were doing 250w as an example.
Charging, and using, your boost can be done as many times as you like.
MOTHERFUCKER!!
