Virtual Zwift Rides

Yeah - only done 2 hilly longer races but they’re definitely more of an adventure and mentally engaging. You’ve no idea who’s got what left and it feels like there’s more time for tactics to play out.

On Crit City it’s all a bit crash bang wallop (although I had one race in a group of 3 which was really good fun)

I’ve just attempted to set up my first Meet Up. I’m assuming GB will stand me up and I will ride on my own but does that mean I’ll be riding with a yellow beacon over my head?

Yes, I did, does everyone see it? If it’s not the days map though traffic will probably be light.

Ah ok.I was going to invite you but I realised we weren’t following each other (and I never really liked you much anyway. :grinning: )

I.Fatpom on Zwift

Haha, I’m now upset :joy:

Erm, think I’m just Jeff Belt, I don’t really do computers or anything

OK, this is weird. I set a meet up with GB for tomorrow on Lutscher. He’s received it but in my companion, I don’t seem to be able to back out of the Meet Up screen. It’s constantly asking me to Discard or Cancel the Meet Up. I can’t access anything else?

Scrub that. I realised I’d started to create an additional meet up. Discarded that and all ok.

My weekly pain fest that is KOA race. I was really hopeful about this one, Leeds UCI course is nice and hilly, ideal for breaking the pack and not losing 30 places in the final sprint

Nicely out in the lead pack… then everyone disappears, and then reappears 2s later… oops forgot to reboot the wifi. Its OK I am still in the lead pack. 30s late repeat, 30s after that disappear for 10s. I’m still keeping up with the pack, but putting in 400w every time I lose Wifi. Then disaster, I am leading the climb and nearing the top, wifi goes for 20s comes on and I am 6s off the back of the pack on the descent. Nearest rider is 37 behind, and I have 5km to go, so set off like a man possessed to catch the group ahead. Catching a group of 8 riders, 6 seconds ahead requirerd every ounce of my mental and physical ability, however, after pushing 400-500w for a couple of minutes I was back on. Unfortunately the lead group of 12 had got ahead, so I was now in a chase group of 9. I even managed a flourish to sprint past 4 riders for a 17th place finish.

364w AP for 18mins… but more like 330w for 11mins and 420w for 7mins

Very annoying! But appears there are quite a few people having issues with NYC route badges. Oh well it was a workout so really is a 1st world problem

Ticked off the 3 sisters route this morning. Took the jersey on the small kom - was not pleased when my rider started indicating left for the radio tower! Should name it 3 and a half sisters!

Good route though. Generally enjoy all of the longer Watopia routes!

Back in stock if anyone is interested / cares (no affiliation). And there’s a discount code: trainerroad10

Innsbruckring 2 laps next week. You handle the leg snapper?

Anyone wants to do 3 sisters in group 3.45 sunday Pack ride, usual social pace 2wkg and 2.2 on climbs. Will take about 2 hours. Flat road avg speed is 38kph on the social

I might do. I need to average 1455 mtrs per day until June end, so have to do extra at then end. As long as that 2.0 -2.2 is accurate, I might be able to hold on!

Yes the beacon is well run on Pack rides. Because people behave it means average speed goes up in the blob as well rather than lots of little groups you have 200+.

I thought I’d done the short Highline loop tonight but it doesn’t seem to have registered, grr.

Lots of folks had trouble with that one last year. I thought they’d fixed it? It worked fine for me but people were saying you had to double back or something?
