(Boring bit: Years back we had tickets one weekend to see Portishead and Chemical Brothers the following weekend (doing an all nighter) at Brixton Academy. We turned up for Portishead but there was so much gangster shit going on between the train and the academy that we got panicky, decided not to stay for the gig and went home. I gave away the Chemical Brothers tickets. I got to see Portishead at Glastonbury so got them ticked off, still really want to see Chemical Brothers - I watch their Glastonbury stuff on YouTube endlessly.)
they’ve stuck at it and evolved their style and are still knocking out some great stuff. Never seen them live (or Portishead or Leftfield) but did get to see Massive Attack at Glasto - a few hours after seeing Dolly! completely different genres and artists but both great
Smooth, Santa Feat Rob
Maria Maria, Santana Feat The Product
Wherever, Whenever, Shakira
Underneath your clothes, Shakira
Chan, Chan, Buena Vista Social Club
And a glass of rioja, so far.
Sadly the latinas themselves are in the city until late.
Prob best track off that album for me. Bought on cassette with a copy of skid row’s slave to the grind when I was a kid. Both quite heavy affairs… too young then to understand the Dave lee Roth/ sammy Hagar thing
I think my favourite VH albums are Van Halen and 5150. The worst is OU812.
On the whole, I enjoyed the DLR/Steve Vai stuff quite a bit more than VH, especially Skyscraper. But both bands were amazing and was lucky enough to see them both live (not at the same time obviously )
This popped up as a random suggestion on Spotify earlier, I’d completely forgotten about it but really liked OMD (still do). OMFG though, how young do they look and it’s nearly 40 years old
