It looks to me that Ali is looking away to his left and I would give hime benefit of the doubt. I have seen him a fair bit away from racing, mostly at the pool or local running races and he was always a normal bloke. The other lads in the team took the mick out of him as much as anyone else.
Just seen Jan’s BwB, he says he saw ABs tyre pretty flat at 20k. So he rode all the way to Hawi front pack, another 80k ish, on a tyre that was visibly soft. Then dropped the hammer with the new wheel to bridge back up.
Frodo in the press conference about if he was sad that Lange quit - “No not at all. That’s up to him, personally I don’t like quitting and like to take the punch but that is his decision. Honestly I don’t really give a shit”.
Sebi says “Good answer” and Hoff, ToD & Wurf all laughing.
AB has just posted the video on his Instagram stories saying he has apologised to Frodeno, but to me there was absolutely nothing in it, crowded finish area and he just brushes Frodeno on his way past. Big fuss about nothing
Yeah i just saw that. AB really doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy that would do that anyway. He’d more likely give himself 20 lashes of the whip for being so weak rather than taking it out on a competitor … who was going to be unstoppable that day regardless of anyone else!
I’ve not seen all these post race interviews yet, but they sound good.
Regarding Brownlee. He has ages yet, like LIONel. AB needs to remember Frodeno didn’t win Kona until 7 years after Beijing, so that still gives him another 4! LIONel just needs to grow a moustache again
I really think Ali should concentrate on 70.3 domination and the WC for a season or two before worrying about a Kona top-5. It’s a well trodden path, particularly by the Germans like Frodeno, Kienle & Raelert
