I’ve won a few quid this year betting on boxing … I’m a fanatical fan.
If someone gave me £50 to bet on Kona I”d commute it to Golovkin TKO 9-12 Saturday.
It really is wide open and hard to see 6 of the guys not being in the top three… that obviously can’t happen.
Hmm, I don’t think it’s probable, but of the various improbable combinations Inthink it has a shot.
Everyone underestimates Lange even now with consecutive wins and the course record, and underestimated McNamee despite consecutive 3rd places. Other guys might have the guns to go faster, but McNamee has the experience to make a more reliable performance. He’ll be thinking “this is it”, anything worse than 2nd will be a fail.
Alistair, well I’ll confess some optimism here. If he’d done better at 70.3 worlds I’d have more confidence but I think it’s unlikely he’ll podium this year - of course I’ll be watching and wanting him to win though!
I think Lucy Charles Barclay has leapt from strength to strength, this could be her year.

Damn, I’ve just realised this is the night before Manchester half and I’m in a Premier Inn with a 56k modem connection to share with all the other guests 
and I’ll be wanting a fairly early night.
Still can’t decide about placings, obvious favourite for the men’s race is Frodo but I don’t really follow the pro’s that much, but I think Ali B might sneak a podium actually but there’s a huge bunch that could be close to each other depending on who has the best day, but I reckon McNamee might run through the field again.
For the ladies, well Ryf, LCB, Haug - but LCB & Haug could be the other way round.

There’s this thing called Internet on your phone nowadays 
I stayed up and watched it all night before a duathlon once. A half marathon isn’t that bad…90mins of exercise should be fine off minimal sleep. I hardly ever get any sleep before a big race anyway, so I’m used to exercising tired!

Yes, TBH I sometimes get faster connections through my phone than in some hotels, not sure if that says much about the hotels I stay in 
I need my sleep too much and the GF probably won’t be happy unless I go to the bar.
Although I don’t usually sleep that well either before some races, this shouldn’t be too bad.

There is always a long list of contenders these days, on the men’s side. But by the time they get to Hawi, probably 30% are already well out of it for whatever reason. Lange always manages to be the dark horse despite the last 2 years; people focus on the great races people have in the run-up (LIONel, Wurf etc) but they regularly don’t contend for the podium on the big day.
Frodo, like Lange has kept his powder dry. In fact, he’s kept it very dry…

Obviously he’s not gonna win but Will Clarke looks to be in the shape of his life (according to his social media, which is usually pretty honest).
What do people think he can do if he had the perfect race? Top 10? Top 15?
4 Brits packing out the top 10 would be good , can’t see the domination of our European brothers a realistic proposition but maybe a solid grouping could be possible
I’d love to see a Brownlee/Frodo Iron War.
Not going to happen… but can you imagine? …Can Ironman imagine the royalties?

Probably not! But Lange/Frodeno would be a spicy run-war, if by chance Lange finds himself not too far in arrears after the bike…
