Since I’ve been looking into Middle Distance races anyway I’ve put all these into a spreadsheet sorted by date, so it’s a little easier to view. Just using the information I could find here and on the web. Thought I’d share here too: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1C8SF24LZtevju88K4PKggHpN_zCRYog___r4az2qRnc/edit?usp=sharing
Shout if there is any omissions/mistakes/things to add!
There is/was also the Arran Middle Distance Tri held this year on 1/6/19.
It’s a fantastic event. One of those ones that makes geographical sense. You get a boat over to Holy Isle and then swim the 1.9k back to Arran, then bike an entire circuit of the island 57 miles and then do a two lap run course.
It’s run by the Arran Junior Triathlon club. I know there had been some organisational changes this year and after having my eye on it I wasn’t sure it would take place. Entries opened in Feb but it wasn’t very well publicised. In the past they’ve had upwards of 60 and there have been waiting lists. Not so this year. There were 16 entered and only 12 participants on the day which meant I got to have my first (and likely only) taste of victory.
Haven’t heard anything about next year. Hope they manage to keep it going - it’s iconic, dramatic and should be a classic.
Looks like the Slateman is a few weeks later next year, 13/14th June, should make the water a bit warmer. They’ve also got O\W swim events on including an Ironman distance.
I really enjoyed this race (except the cold water).

Can someone update the main list with the new date?
Jeff
Titan Brecon (June 20th) entries open this weekend and there is a promotion for entry at £95. Offer ends 30th September.
Hmm…tempting, but only a week after Staffs

I did the Weymough middle in 2011 (Concept Sport then iirc). Does the BustinSkin event go straight up that hill out of town? (A353 east); that was interesting to descend again with the crosswind! Transition was in the tennis courts by the bowling club; run went through the RSPB reserve.

I did it a couple of years ago, it did go up the A353, but descent was through Sutton Pointz, that road is not much better than a farm track
Arran sounds good, but it’s geographical location is what hurts it I guess. I have in-laws in Glasgow, but it’s still helluva trek from here, and if it’s term-time it’s even more unlikely given travel time.
If anyone is thinking of entering the Cleveland Steelman entries are over half full already with a limit of 300.
It’s only £45
Done!!
Has anybody done the 70.3 distance at Cholmondoley Castle, Cheshire? I think it’s called “The Gauntlet”.
If so, do you have to rack your bike and register the day before? Or can this be done on the morning of the event? I’ve only done Ironman branded events and wondered if the hassle the day before applied elsewhere.
Thanks
I’ve not done that one, but started out doing quite a few Castle Tri events. At both Hever and Chantilly it was racking in the morning.
Same. Castle Howard is morning bike rack.
