2021 Goals

I’ve still got 2 jerseys SS one showing its age but LS one going strong until zip broke last march. Been meaning to get it repaired as jersey itself is still great. That winter one has done some miles as well.

Raceskin make great team kit. Just saying.

Used to love the abuse we had from the TT group that stood at the top of the first climb on the Vitruvian bike course

Yep, I was thinking of the Vit too

They do. I think they do the Champ Sys model of opening a shop so money doesn’t need handling. I may take a look!

We had a good look a couple of years back for the Pirates with various vendors, and it didn’t prove easy, as the kit was either too costly, or the minimum quantities (to get a shop as opposed to just a branded bulk order) just weren’t viable… so will be interested to see if you can solve it!

Yes minimums are usually the issue with our cycling club kit. In the old days Planet X stocked TT kit, obviously just had a job lot done as SS2 sold through PX and they plastered their name all over it. Oh and there were probably a few hundred regular posters buying it.

I remember the Pirates on one of the hills at the original Outlaw in 2010. They tried to get me to defect on each lap.

Makes a change… normally, they just try to get you to sleep with Barlos, the infamous head coach of the pirates.

Didn’t TT also have a presence at the Ballbuster Duathlon back in the day?

Remember quite a mob (wearing grass skirts IIRC), although not 100% sure it was TTers.

Reading the comments above - the good old days. At the moment my 2021 goal is just to try and find some little bit of motivation. Weather is pants, Covid is pants and my motivation is pants.

I think so, I remember our group pic at Outlaw. Some old names there, Timmy, Leigh, Bell Ringer (?) and loads of others.

We also had a post race get together at ADITL in 2010. I remember Carlito, La Marquise and (I think) Cobbie amongst others.

Seems like a lifetime ago now.

Think I told the story a few years ago of my running mate in Glastonbury, asking me if I would give him and his his mate a lift to Yeovil Park run.

Picked up my mate and then Leigh jumped in the car as well! I think he was working for GKN back then.

Not surprisingly given the leagues of admin it took a lot longer than planned, but we’ve moved down-under :star_struck: Job clearance checks and visa finally approved mid-March, we booked the next available flight and had two weeks madness selling everything we owned, moving out our flat, before living with our parents for the final week in the UK, handily just in time for rule of 6 to be able to meet more people outdoors and have some huddles round garden fires for a catch up.

Two weeks of quarantine in a small room, no balcony, window that barely opens looking out on a car park, grey skies and rain, ahead of returning to shift work with triple the duration of the commute is enough to make me doubt everything and that it was all a big mistake mind :joy: Just fleeting doubts, staying positive and telling myself it’ll all be worth it!

I’d say the run targets can be wiped clean and I’ll spend the year on the beach instead, but GF cousin has just done his first 70.3 this week and wants to carry on so I’ll probably get back training with him.

Nearly 1/3 way through the year. Anyone else able to check in with progress report ahead of hope of upcoming races?

Well done Chris. I did say it will take a long time. Everyone thinks it’s quick ‘on paper’ but it never is.
On the immi boards, they always say it takes two years to fully settle in but personally I think it’s bollox. You can fall in and out of love with where you are at all sorts of times and it’s often triggered by events, not places.

The hoops and cost to jump through to move permanently to Oz builds a lot of resilience. It’s not moving around within the EU and it’s just not comparable.

Go with flow, you’ll both find your groove. Transitions.org is still active but in a state of flux at the moment. (tragic back story of the legal site owner) but reach out there is you need some Adelaide based folks to train with.

Remember:
‘woop woop’ is somehere far away.
Drop bears don’t exist.
You are now a ‘crow eater’.
When it comes to sport, Oz is always the plucky underdog, unless you lose, then you were robbed.
If your boss says they ‘might’ get you you to do something, that means ‘do it’. (ask me how I know  )
VB is shit, Tooheys New isn’t new, I think in Adelaide you order a ‘pot’ of beer but can’t remember.
When you get your electricity bill, yes, that is right number, they haven’t added a zero by mistake!
Glenelg is where it’s at.
Rundle Mall for shopping.
Stay out of the Crazy Horse. :+1:
