2021 Goals

“This year I’ll do”, I did figure,
“An Ironman- what could be bigger?”
But so far the score
is one out of four
Cos Covid means all plans are jigger - ed

No progress markers beyond the 23:15 5K yet. I would have expected to try a 10k now but I decided to do a strength block which buggered that up. Sights are on the Olympic at the moment. Bike is where it needs to be, swim and run need patience and time.

Well goals not met yet. With my one “prep” race already gone, and IMUK 2022 defer option added , I’m hoping that I can have that option and move Wales to 2022 and maybe fit in something small in like a Midnightman so no travel required. BAstion, still hopeful there but in IMJ style I haven’t swam; or trained enough

Shit.
Miles off those :rofl::see_no_evil:

I was riding the 50TT course last week and the thought of riding at that effort for two hours filled me with dread and pain.

I’m enjoying pork and beer too much to hit those running targets.

Paddy Buckley Round :negative_squared_cross_mark: (maybe next spring now instead)

Guess I should set some new ones for the rest of this year really. Will have a think today.

Paddy Buckley- isn’t that the one where you cycle between climbs?

No, but the odd crazy has tied the big three ‘rounds’ (one in Wales, England and Scotland) by cycling between them.

PBR is a route around snowdonia taking in a bunch of key peaks. It’s about 100km ish distance over some pretty rough terrain.

Ah I see. Yeah I remember someone cycling between them, might have been John Kelly?

Yes, I think he might have.

that’ll be the boy. He’s a different breed to the rest of us.

Not much progress for me, although it was always likely to be later in the year. The 55 mile race has been deferred to August, whether I’ll chance running that far or be fit enough is another thing.

The olympic race is going to be a big ask at Southport, bike would give me a chance but the swim & run will probably discount it this time.

Most of the others were always for later summer or autumn anyway, except maybe the Sub 2 @50M TT, once I enter one.

That’s one down, today.

Only one goal.

Full distance, first ever at age 60, finish.

Bloody hell!

Course?

Well done for even contemplating it.

Lakesman, deferred from last year. Plan was to do Barcelona or Lanzarote this year for my 60th, but covid of course stuffed up all plans.

I’ve been active most of my life, but mostly short power sports like judo. I took up triathlon as my first ever endurance sport a couple of years ago. I’ll finish, but as a short legged mesomorph I’m not competitive, even in my age group.

Waters cold !

Bikes flat … ish.

Runs a run in an Ironman I guess, unless it’s really really hilly.

Good luck.

Keep moving forward.
