Shuffling uphill… awful.
Downhill not much better I guess

I’m an ok…ish swimmer, won’t be out with the leading pack, but won’t be off the back, say 1:30ish (as long as I don’t get calf cramp).
Thankfully bike is my best bit, say 6:45, course looks rolling, bit like the Vitruvian? Again, I’m not with the leaders, but I hope to pass more than pass me. Really depends on the wind.
The run…hmm, well let’s just say that I’m a short legged mesomorph. I’ve never run a marathon, (3 halfs), people in my age group run 3 hour something…I’m more like 5 hour something.
Half an hour for transitions, toilet breaks etc. That gives me an aim of 14 hours. As I say, shouldn’t have a problem finishing, but far from competitive even in my age group. Mostly it’s the run that I expect to let me down.
I’ll be the same this year at Bolton
Welcome and best of luck.
Welcome to TT
Sounds like you’ve got a proper handle on things and what you can do - well done
So 2 down:
sub 75 half (ran sub 74 t’other week)
sub 16:30 5k: (ran 16.29.9 last night at my beer 5k. This was in NEXT2 so there may be a couple more seconds in there somewhere in some Alpha’s).
Need to hold form now until I can have a crack at a marathon…
Insane form @ykk keep it up
Frustrating Achilles niggle means running all a bit uncertain but, in the hope I get past that fairly soon:
Sub 2:30 Olympic distance
Sub 25:00 10 mile TT
Do some good, long OW swims
Really ought to learn to tumble turn.If the running really gets back on track, and ParkRun re-starts, then sub 19:00 for 5 km and I’d like to try and do the Clarendon marathon in under 4 hours.
Two down as of this evening. 24:48 in local club TT.
Well done Matt
Ironman <13h
Oh crap, did I really say that?
Oh crap, did I really say that?
Sort of the whole point of this thread, I reckon.
Sub 10:30 at the Hardmoors 55 in March.
70.3: Sub 4:50
Olympic : Sub 2:25 on the road bike, ~2:20 on the TT bike
Mara: Sub 3:15
50M TT: Sub 2
IM: sub 10:30 (course dependant, and if I do one!)
My mid-year report makes for grim reading
I’ve now pushed the 55 to next year as there’s no chance of completing it without a long time out afterwards.
I wimped Southport and didn’t do Wetherby because of the cold, and TBF Southport was tough logistically because of lockdown. But I might have a look for another Olympic somewhere.
70.3 is still possible, our club’s is in 5 weeks and I’ve done ~4:35 in the past, but my swimming isn’t going well, depends on whether I can give myself a chance after the bike. The bike is also nearly 2K long I think, but transitions are short. I doubt I’ll be going to Holland.
Might have a look for another 70.3, possibly the Sundowner or Dalesman depending on how things are going.
Can’t see a sub 3:15 marathon happening, still hoping I might get to Boston and complete it, but training will be very restricted.
Failed at the first attempt at Sub 2 - 50, got a faster course next weekend but also doing a fell run on Saturday, and even though I’m planning on taking it very easy it won’t help.
Won’t even mention Ironman
This stupid hip has ruined my season, probably going to have to go back to the physio to see if it’s managed to get out of alignment again.
Maybe I should lower my aims to doing a sub 20 parkrun again
Lose about 4 stone and get back into Triathlon. That’s about as specific as I can get right now. 2022 is my year
Bit of a reset now given current events
Sub 18 5km
100 x 100m off 2:00 in the pool
GWR as a ninja for marathon and half marathon
Sub 18 5km
100 x 100m off 2:00 in the pool
Is that a goal for 2021 or today? That’s just a normal training day for you!
Is that a goal for 2021 or today? That’s just a normal training day for you!
Well I managed half of the 5km one this morning
1.5 miles at 5:46 pace (17:55)
Sub 18 5km
100 x 100m off 2:00 in the pool
GWR as a ninja for marathon and half marathon
With you on the first one. Not so much the others mind
C’mon
100 x 100m
Does it count if spread out over a fortnight?
No thought not
3h20m in the pool.
You’ve earned a pint after that.
