2021 Open Water Swim season lift off

I used to feel sea sick in the cold water.

I get this occasionally when it’s been a particularly cold swim & a rushed change. It feels a bit like the head rush you get when standing up too quickly sometimes.

Bloody IM rules innit - different to BTF/WT

Oh man, when I was young and fit I used to have head rushes put me on the ground…

What’s current Loch temperatures anyone? Maybe time to stick a toe in…

8oC in Aberdeenshire, down from 11oC two weeks ago

I’ve paid to swim tonight.
I’m from Yorkshire.
But developed a Midlanders “nesh” mindset.

It’s currently hailing.
I’m knackered.
And I’ve swam 4km this week.

Just lightning

Just had to look that up.

Yeah screw that.

I’ve wimped out of all my OW swims and gone to the pool.

I’ll wait until June :see_no_evil:

There’s the thunder. And more hail. And more lightning.

Welcome to a Covid Free Summer.
What one hand giveth, the other one taketh away.

Anyways…I came on here for a rant.

The venues Facebook group (yes, it’s in Cheshire, and this is probably the guy who turns up in a bright red Italian sportscar)

“Hi guys, I’ve just had my car valeted and all the water stains removed from the seats, can you recommend any waterproof seat protectors?”

“DryRobe”
“+1”
“This”
“DryRobe sell seat covers, too. We use them”

Me?

BUY A FUCKING BLACK BIN BAG.
THEY ARE 20p.
YOU FUCKING LUNATICS

Mildy offended for the 2nd time this week

Apparently our lake has gone from 11 to 14 - tropical. Bit disappointed having just invested in a neoprene hat and some new swim gloves.

Oh wait… does that actually make me nesh??

Will still be taking my non-Dryrobe :tm: Dryrobe … cause it was still feckin expensive and it needs using now.

These are the same people who arrive in Caravelle’s / T5s and walk LITERALLY TWO SECONDS to the water in their dry robes.

YOUR VAN IS ACTUALLY THERE :man_shrugging:t4:

Me?
Arrive changed.
In.
Out, practise T1 whilst running to the car.
Wetsuit off.
Tri suit folded down.
Scabby old t-shirt on.
Some cut off trackies on.
Old trainers.
Bag for life on the car seat.
Drive home.

Far too much messing around goes on for my liking.

TIME IS MONEY PEOPLE!

2nd swim in Oulton Broad of the year last night, was actually pretty nice, think I didn’t actually need the neoprene gimp hat on!

First time I have ever used a nose clip as my sinuses play me up something chronic normally after open water. Wasn’t sure I would like it but it the water I felt it made me swim a bit better than my normal rubbish efforts! :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s the excuse I’m looking for
Nice 45-60 minutes on Zwift instead.

Or just go to the offy and get the ales in :man_shrugging:t4:
Taper time innit

Is there any technique to getting a second swim cap on… Without completey messing up the one already on your head?

YeH!

Your own Latex cap on the bottom.
Goggles next.
Silicone event cap on last.

I was neoprene cap on bottom.
13.6 degrees.
Managed almost an hour tho. Pleased with that
