haha amazing.
best of luck!!!
Nice. Good luck
Looks great - enjoy!
@jeffb her test came back negative so all being well I’ll be there! Last time, all ages started together, run from the beach into the choppy sea! Hard work going out with the waves.
I’m running up Ingleborough tomorrow - hoping it’s not too hot!
In times like these it’s brilliant you’re managing to race abroad, especially something so challenging. Good luck!
I’m sure the memories will last a lifetime; sod the result. And when the going gets tough, channel your inner penbarras!
When was that? Fairly sure I was in a wave last time in 2017. Either way we should find out soon.
Good news about the negative test.
Good luck
Good luck… what a faff…!
Most of all enjoy yourself and come back safe with a long winded race report !
Up to eat my rice pudding & bananas & see that I’ll have to self isolate on my return from France
. Not so the Germans, Spanish, Dutch & Belgians I’ve been chatting with
.
I did think of you when I read that
You can pay for a PCR test to be released -
Good luck in the race
Yes, gutting hearing that on the news this morning.
Somehow @Doonhamer has already uploaded his swim even though he must be enjoying himself on the bike
I’ve looked on the link he posted.
Unfortunately my french isn’t up to scratch!
Welsh 1000m Peaks fell race today. Hottest race I’ve ever done
Survival mode for the back half.
And the finish is on the summit of Snowdon so then you’ve got to get back down too
My wife & I had the chance to process the isolation news separately for the duration of my race yesterday & we both came to the same conclusions.
People have been pinged for less, it was always a bit of a gamble.
We got a cracking holiday in France, which we love, for the first time in a couple of years.
The house will get some much needed decorating done when we get back.
wrt the race, oh my days
.
I may try a report later, but I was out for 16:48 managed 4th in cat & I think I was 57/158 but there’ll be shed loads of dnf’s to make that look better.
Basically, 1:12 swim, 10:30 bike & 4:48 walk
, but lots of stuff to store in the memory banks.
LOOONNNGGG day out!
Was it bakingly hot? And hilly?
4degC at start of bike & 30degC at finish
. Bike was 198km with 5000mtrs & mara had 800mtrs…yeah, loooong day out
.
It looks savage, can’t be easy getting the clothes right for that bike ride either.
Well done though!
Wowza, that’s a chunky race. No wonder the bike time was long with that elevation
10:30 bike from a good climber … oh my…!
Swashbuckler in the New Forest this morning.
All things considered a great day out. Bike and swim were solid. I struggled in the heat on the run, and am now aware enough to slow down and keep going rather than press on at pace and be reduced to walking/hiding in the shade. 31st overall last time I checked.
5.05.49, which was really annoying as the run was 22.25km so if it was a true ‘half’ I’d have scrapped in under the 5. Swim I don’t have a discreet time but was out and through T1 in 35mins, the other half clocked me at a smidge under 31mins which seems about right. 2.38 on the bike and then a 1.49.37 run. The run had at least 140m of climbing (a lot for a ‘flat course’)
Given my, relatively, poor prep that was good though. A bit of over training screwed my peak block, so no real build and taper. Only been back in the pool 3 months after over a year out and so on. Thought my run was okay - I’d expect to do 4.40 splits on a flat half IM without high temps. Good to be racing again

Not so good
). 3 rectangular loops of which the first long one was entirely blinded by the sun. Even dark googles didn’t seem to help. Follow the boats didn’t work as it should have as there were random boats dotted about.Overall - I would definitely recommend it. Be aware of the sting in the tail of the fast course with the run. Great effort by the organisers in the face of all the covid problems & restrictions
