Yeah nice one! Like I say, I fancy it but Saturday pick up bollox screws it for me.
I ran a local 9km trail race earlier today.
It appeared that it was a heat trap, temperatures recorded at 30+ on site.
I have no idea how some of you do it, especially IM in this heat.
Finished 17th out of 200. 25% DNF rate.
You are allowed to register on the Sunday morning and now I know the logistics (where you park, register, check in and so on) it would be totally feasible to do so if it wasn’t your first race.
- you park about 100m from registration which is a desk with pretty much no queue right next to transition. You don’t rack your bike until Sunday anyway, there’s no bag check, so the only difference is you are putting a couple of numbers on before you take your kit to transition
(n.b. that is the case for this year. Might get changed of course)
You could ask Jorgan about IM Austria.

@Jorgan…???
Or Hamburg
ah brilliant that would change it for me.
What’s it like now that it’s not Richard and Joanne Iles?
A lot of us original TT folk LOVED their races
I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating;
I did my first half with them down in the New Forest, I loved the area so much I’ve been back for leisure holidays.
It’s truly gorgeous down there.
I’d have never have gone if it wasn’t for triathlon
It is indeed gorgeous!
I can’t comment relatively I’m afraid, it’s the first one I have done. I’ll ask my mate though as it’s about his fifth or sixth
If we don’t manage to get out to Denmark in August I’ve now found a back-up ‘race’ Cliff-man, lake swim, 11 lap bike (113 miles) and 14-ish lap trail run, pub 200m from the finish line
Well, first time I did it, it was 38 in the shade. Obvs Frankers was 40; Hamburg was 35 shade iirc. Cotswold 226 high 20s, Austria second time high 20s. Outlaw was the only dry temperate Iron Dist I’ve done; Roth and Regensburg were monsoons 💁
a very hot day out being a TO at Ironbourne yesterday - first iteration for this long and middle distance event down in Eastbourne where the Sunshine Coast lived up to it’s reputation with blistering heat and all day sun. event went very very well - a few issues which for the 1st running is to be expected and can be corrected for the future. great feeback from those taking part which is always good.
saw and spoke to @Toyota_Crown who was doing the LD event - as usual, late for his swim start…cough. no doubt he’ll give his inimitable feedback sometime.
I’ll just post this one picture taken by one of the Bodyworks coaches - what a way to start the day!
PHWOAR!
So, @Toyota_Crown did IMUK, Ironbourne and is rocking up at Outlaw this weekend.
Leg-end.
would you expect anything less from him??
I don’t get how anyone can recover from these races quick enough to do them this close together.
I think his body is so attuned to doing one every weekend that he never really recovers or wears himself out.
btw - had one of these rock up at the Middle distance race - a Tririg Omni. I knew of them as they have been approved by World Triathlon for non drafting races, but never seen one in the flesh (rarely seen outside the US seemingly). there was also a P3X and P5X on show but both in the long distance event.
It’s a very cool looking bike. I may be missing it in the picture, but where’s the chain and cassette?
I lifted that pic from the Tririg site - shown like that so you can spec your own groupset and pedals - they don’t supply these
…where a F25-29 ran 3:15 and came 3rd overall with a sub-10 ![]()
Just checked out the run times, jesus!!!
They are RAPID for that temperature.
