Loved the swim start - jumping off the pier! Swim was tricky with the current. Pretty quick bike with stunning finale over beachy head. Great support running up & down the seafront, but by god the run was hard…no shade, the sun was relentless!
the girl who came 3rd overall had the fastest marathon time of the day and was flying when she came in!
but also take a look at the bike times - 2nd fastest overall bike time (fastest had a DNF later) was female - Emma Cockcroft, a top biker who was semi-pro GB rider. one guy said she passed him on the bike like “he was standing still”. she was 2nd into T2 (behind the overall winner) and we had to check her computer as we thought she might have cut the course short. distance was bang on which is a lesson learnt for us as TOs - don’t assume that females can’t bike quick!!
Not sure there was any where beter for this. Lisa Norden is racing IM Lake Placid this weekend. I really rate her having watched loads of ITU on their free subscription last year, she was a consistently very good performer, solid across all 3 disciplines. Hope she racees well. She was racing pro-cycling which can’t hane done her any harm.
