2021 - The Weigh In Thread

I need to cut the treats out.

I mean they’re not bloody treats when you eat them every day

Just popped in to say I just saw a sub 77kg (76.95) for the first time since 2019. Started at 81kg in early June, so well on my way down to 75kg target weight by 3rd October

Currently fat, if I eat like a monk I can drop a bit, second I lead even a slightly normal life with some treats and a few beers etc I seem to settle in at 85/86kg :sob: :sob: :sob:

That’s a triathlete version of fat, not normal person fat. It’s all about balance, slim down for races and enjoy life the rest of the time. Life’s too short to aspire to look like Joe Wicks all the time.

TBH that’s pretty much what the wife tells me, but I still wish I could sit a lot closer to 80kg without having to lick lettuce leaves for breakfast, lunch & tea!

66.4 for two consecutive days, so the no-carb lunch does work then, as well as missing 1 eve meal per week. Control freak.

71.7kg.

Got the scales out for the first time in a while.

Zwift weight 81kg (probably was 82kg when I entered that)

Last few days I’ve been on 80kg

After yesterday’s 2 hour run, I woke up to 79kg today.

I like this. Feeling really self conscious in my running kit in Regents Park all day today - FFS I’m a 46 yo man I should not be body conscious or whatever the correct phrase is these days.

But as I said above, as long as I’m getting faster I can forget about my weight/shape, right. :face_with_monocle::grimacing:

This. 53 years old and still feel body conscious all the flipping time!

Yes, I’m about 8kg heavier than I would like to be and it l’s resulted in a gut. Why should I worry about what other people think?

Is it because of the exercise we do we feel we should look ‘fit’?

Exactly.

Same here for 57 and feel embarassed when changing in/out of wetsuit as trisuit small size and belly hangs over it, even tho I’m about 66/67 kg!

4 kgs heavier in the last month or so, another 2 ? to go.

Won’t go over 76 as I plan to return to tri next year.

Quite a dramatic change in body shape for such a small timeframe, I certainly look better in the mirror, but I really don’t GAF about any of that I like to compete against the clock and stopped caring what I look like years ago.

We are overly critical of ourselves at times, if your healthy and happy, does the rest really matter…?!

I’ve been 68Kg for nearly a year now…. and with training kicking back in, and putting more focus on food, hoping to get it down to 63Kg over the next few months. Will also be adding in some S&C work to get my core muscles back into shape as i’m another one in my mid 50’s who is fit and healthy, but still has a bit of a mini beer gut… it has to go!

Interesting reading these comments. I’ve a friend who is a clinical dietician, and she’s remarked several times that eating disorders are very much now moving into male and older age groups. Worth being aware of, as i’m sure its very easy to get caught up on an unintentional roller coaster.

The eating thing rings true for sure, I’m a simple guy, probably why I’m crap at computers / tech, if I train lots I eat lots, if I don’t … I don’t.

Despite putting weight on quite rapidly, I’m certainly eating less as my weekly training totals have gone from 16 hours plus and up to 20 some weeks to 10- 12 max.

Plus I need to gain strength for this comp so half the time it’s tough but I’m not really getting out of breath.

I could name two high level age groupers who have slight tummies … I won’t because some people may feel it’s insulting and Jorgan will have another melt down.

Lol

There both happy fit people and very very good at our sport.

Ironically people are asking “ have I started training “

I had “have you been working out?” last week at the pub - I didn’t reply with “only averaging 10 hours a weeks for the last 7 months”

But yeah the lack of movement in body fat has been frustrating me, but I realise now it’s been bothering me far too much for what it is. And it’s become a looks thing, whereas it started as a health and performance thing.

Vanity eh, who knew it could be a bad thing?:face_with_hand_over_mouth:
