For now.
Yeah, Iâm not sure how they can ever verify the run but I suspect the only qualifying bike will be outdoor or on Rouvy with Hr and real power. Once they have a 95% verifiable protocol theyâll start charging, although like real races I suspect the majority revenue would come from the course holder (eg Rouvy).
What about verifying that 50yo guy who rode a 1:55 bike split off just over 200w iirc
The whole thing is as âcredibleâ as Zwift; but I imagine they are not trying to really be anything more than an Online presence right now tbh.
Yeah Iâve feedback my thoughts on how to improve things to them today. Weâll see how it progresses but I wouldnât expect sudden major improvements. If 90% of people enjoyed it theyâll just focus on making it function better first, then worry about Zwift double draft vs Erg trainer vs Rouvy vs Real world.
Iâve no ideas on the running though. Iâd calibrate my zwift runpod outside in a real run if I wanted to simulate on a treadmill, I suppose. No one will sign up for a stryd just to take part in this though.
So Bolton is 2021 but no news of Staffs?
âRight now our team are working diligently to secure venues and a new race date. We are committed to provide you with an update on your options by April 30, 2020.â
Ah yes.
Obviously purely speculation but that would suggest that theyâre trying to put on a race this year?
Only just over a week to find out
Germany who were ahead of the virus, say they have it under control, and have started lifting some restrictions, have just cancelled Oktoberfest at the end of September, start of October.
There is no way, no way this is going ahead this year. There are rumours that pubs might not be open by then, so 1000 odd people in a mass sporting event. Not going to happen.
Completely agree with you, Ironmans line of communication just seems odd
2020 is gone, obviously.
But I am hearing more and more that 2021 is not going to happen either - we will lift many of the restrictions that the economy needs as a first priority.
Pubs, restaurants, gyms, cinemas smaller gatherings may follow later this year - with huge social distancing measures.
I think weâll then have to sit there for 1-2 years - until a vaccine. This thing will still be out there, ready to flare up.
Sporting events are the bell weather IMO. If they can allow 50,000 at a football match then they canât say an Ironman event cannot happen. But I canât see 50,000 at a football match until this thing is really under control and really only a vaccine does that.
Day⌠ruinedâŚ!
Yep everything will go back based on economic value. Professional sport will probably start to go ahead behind closed doors. Pubs, gyms etc whilst there will be huge pressure and demand to re open them I canât see them rushing to get them open. Its very hard in a gym or pub to socially distance. In restaurants you could seat every other table, but the server still has to come to different tables - and would be viable for a restaurant to half open.
Some scientist said without a vaccine the Olympics next year has no hope.
I assume office workers will have to WFH until a vaccine as well.
As a friend said to me earlier, we have no idea what is going to happen next month, let alone September or October.
While I have been sat in the camp above (no triathlon / running / insert other mass participation sport this year), we simply have absolutely no idea what is going to happen. The events themselves and most reinforcing stakeholders (take charities and the London marathon, for example) will obviously want to run, so it could be on a country by country basisâŚ
Surprised still no news on Staffs regarding cancellation/rescheduling options. Is today the big day?
Youâre up a bit early for emails!!!
Or youâve not yet gone to bed
Yes. Today is The Big Day.
Bolton has been cancelled, so I see this going, too.
Looking at what other countries are doing, getting 2,000 people plus supporters and families to do this is madness
Today for most of the European races.
Iâm waiting for them to cancel Frankfurt
Any news? they are announcing others on FB
