2022 races

I’m pretty sure I’d read they’ve stopped the NYD doubles as part of a drive to reduce crowds.

Yes, my previous PB was on there And a couple of other decent times for me.

Got lucky with the weather a couple of times, just very cold winter days.

Anyone doing the Eton Dorney HM on Nov 7th?

I’m not, but I believe that it’s organised by ‘The Race Organiser’, this is the company that took over the Swindon Half marathon which they cancelled with about a week to go, and pissed off pretty much everyone with how they’ve handled it. They offered a virtual event and as yet no-one has recieved the t-shirt r medal (event was 19th Sep). Or they offered a 25% cash refund or a credit note for annother event, I don’t think anyone that has requested it has received a credit note. Rumour has it (and actual link to the legal info was posted) that they went into administration early October.

Of course that’s not to say their other events wont go ahead, a company in Admin can continue to operate.

Looks like they tried to expand and took on a few non-profitable events (I know Swindon Half lost a lot of money, figures of £70k quoted for road closures and they only got around 1k runners) and then COVID…

Oh wow, interesting, thanks. I only mention it as a colleague is doing it and I wondered about going along and jogging out a soft benchmark but I’ll probably just focus on my strength work.

Seems no qualification points needed to get in this year (which is surprising, but there we go) so I’m in for the CDH… 105km, 6,100m ascent. WTF have I done?!

261 days to shed probably 20 kilos, get fit, not get injured, and stay motivated.

Oh, and this was the video that made me think it was a good idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYeFVVNDpls

Yeah, but I descend REALLY badly… it was a significant issue to me when I did the TDS in 2011. Will need to put some work into that.

Fuck me, what have I done?!

Met Tobias a couple of times - decent runner, ex army chap.

Just had an email about the Bramley 20 miler that got canned last year (due to flooding, not COVID). Forgotten about it, Feb 20th

cor - is that still going? many a long year since I did that race
