2022 races

Yeah I’ve only done it once in 2019. It’s a good race, I went 2.54 back then. I’d be happy with 3.05 today!

I think I did it last in 2003

Just looked at the course; I didn’t realise it was that Bramley, I grew up near-by… made me wonder if I should do it.

It’s good. I’d say an honest course, not crazy hilly but two decent drags that you definitely know about on the 2nd lap.

Will catch up on this list later, and get it up to date…… i’ve just entered Outlaw Half Notts, so good prompt!

So far only have the Cotswold Classic. I want a couple of olympics towards the end of the season. Would be nice to make a come back with a PB.

Any recommendations, oly distance, UK, flatish courses?

I have a nonsensical dislike of river swims. Don’t know why, just don’t like them.

Does look a good event though.

Great event.

Nice run.

Water is nice, as long as they keep the plant up river shut for race day…. They opened it one year…. Hundreds had the worst squits ever !

Bournemouth
English AG champs Olympic distance

Transition is no longer at the pier in the centre of town but in West Cliff Garden which necessitates a run to T1 up the zig zags. That’ll be a ballache.

The run no longer goes east towards Boscombe, but west towards Sandbanks.

Looks interesting whats the sea like there? I did a swim a few years back in Eastbourne and it went from a mill pond to quite rough in less than an hour. Strong currents also.

Although Im a good swimmer Im not always that good in the sea. I think rough sea swimming needs a fast turnover but because of my size and arm length thats not very easy for me

I’ve done this race probably 5 times. Can be flat, can be choppy. Not for a few years though. I’m very interested in doing this one again.

Deferred twice. I could have taken up a place this September but dates didn’t work so it’s July 2022 rather than 2020.

Outlaw entries are open, if you want to do a half and the full.

Erm, I’m okay, thanks :scream::roll_eyes:

That’s close to IM prices isn’t it?

For one IM, yes.
Here you get a half and a full.

Back in October 2019, I paid £273.80 for Staffs 70.3 and £468.20 for Bolton.

So £742 combined for a branded race.
Whilst Bolton was well supported and a decent race, I wasn’t worth close to £500.
Outlaw is about 20% cheaper than IM.

It’s f’ing eye watering.

For lower key races;
Lakesman is £321 (inc fees)
TriX is £295 (no fees)

Ah with you now.

IIRC, IM Wales 2018 was either £422 or £442 all in. I do remember it was £412 the year before.
