Well done @jeffb, glad you managed to.finish strong (relative to everyone else ) and a great position!

Be great if you can share the secret of your swimming success?:grin:

I was regretting adding you to the tracker as my watch decided to notify me at each of your run splits through the night :joy::yawning_face:

Well done @jeffb, a great race and report! Sounds like you had a decent run too, 17th fastest split and powering through, passing people in the final kms must have been a great feeling. 25th AG is not to be sniffed at

What were the temps like early on the bike?

Presume it’s a bit warmer than it’ll be on Saturday - what extra kit did you slap on? I’m going to pack today but I’m trying to pack as light as possible

Looks like STG could be the venue for the world snowman building competition

Absolutely this @jeffb especially against all those Californian residents that live the old ‘anti aging’ clinics! :joy:

Cracker of a race, even if it didn’t sound the most inspiring of courses. Looking fwd to more tracking next week.

Great race and report. Those toilet stops sound annoying and hopefully you’ll have whatwever out of your system for next week and at worst you’ll only have half as many

Bravo Jeff.
On to Utah! My son is obsessed with mountain biking and Redbull Rampage in particular which is held really near to St George. It’s all making me dream about a return visit one day. Proper jealous.
Good luck with the recovery!

Talking about mountain biking, I’m off here next week…although I’m going for the rock climbing rather than the trails.

Mate just came back from his trip there a few weeks ago. They’d initially planned to go in 2020 but, ya know, stuff happened that year! :joy:

He absolutely loved it. He’s ridden mtb all over the alps, madeira, pyrenees etc and said he had his best ever days on a bike there. And he’s a miserable sod, so that’s high praise indeed! :joy:

@jeffb not sure you can become a sub 10 IM if you can’t pee while riding

A couple of friend off the St George this week. Apparently it’s going to be a little chilly coming out of he swim.

I’ve no idea what happened yesterday, I can’t remember ever stopping on the bike before!

It was probably about 14c when I got on the bike but the sun was out. I put on a standard skinsuit and my thin Brevet base layer, it was fine and I could feel myself getting burnt later on the bike. Also put on some track mitts.

I saw some people with gloves, jackets, leg warmers etc, but fair enough if they come from somewhere really warm. After all it was nearly 30c during the week!

Typically there’s no wind at all today :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: and would have been perfect conditions.

It’ll be nearly 9:30 by the time I’m biking on Saturday so might be a bit warmer. I’ll be using my tri suit this time but might stick on the base layer again and probably my aero long sleeve top. I have got some gloves if it’s really cold.

If it’s really cold at the start I wonder if there’s an option to delay it by an hour. It won’t be much fun for people getting out of the water before 8am!

It’s the standing around before that will be cold

I don’t think you’ll need to pack your swim skin :joy:
