I can’t remember. I think I recall reading something like 800 entries for 200 places. That could be nonsense but that’s what is in my head…
See you there! ![]()
good luck ![]()
I didn’t realise there’s now a Celtman half that you don’t need support for ![]()
Solo point five? Introduced last year I think.
Doesn’t the half get you guaranteed entry to the full or something?
Best way to get into Celtman is to volunteer to marshal one year. The organisers are a nice bunch and may take that into account. And if you take your run kit with you when you marshal you may get to run the high route with someone anyway as someone’s support runner invariably falls ill, trips and falls, or something!
Good luck anyway. I’ll not be entering. Done it twice and never made the high route cut off.
I think they pick a few finishers and give them guaranteed entry.
I was going to be a support runner this year but the guy I was supporting pulled out and then I booked in work. I was working the Ben and the weather was atrocious - at least I was getting paid to be out. I really felt sorry for them especially as the weather a couple of weeks before had been glorious. But good shout on the marshalling, I’ll contact Stuart if I don’t get in.
Ooh tempting.
How off road is off road on the run?
Any idea what the camping is like; sounds like in a field with access to water park facilities (reading between the lines)
It’s a mix of trail and path. Bit of grass. Old railway line. Nothing taxing, and it’s flat.
Camping is ok, but yeah, basic. I stopped at Catterick premier inn last year. It’s about 20 minutes drive, and as the race doesn’t start until 10am it’s a relaxed morning.
What he said, there’s a reasonable section that you can chance the road. Only had it once where we’d had a bad summer and part of the track had puddles.
The lake is usually alright unless it’s windy!
I will have to see what the family holiday plans are for 2023 but this isn’t too far so might give it a go.
Basic camping is fine. Just makes it easier with dogs in tow.
My glass ankles and tendons made of melted cheese can’t handle rough. But if it’s generally flat and just mixed terrain might be ok.
Kids last year at school, so no longer need to book holidays in summer ![]()

@pacha @mw22 i wouldn’t wait on it too long, think there’s only about 200 entries so I think it’ll be full soon.
You’ll get your passport stamped coming to Yorkshire!
I think I’m close enough to the border I don’t need vaccinations ![]()

Looking at my work load I’m not going to get a full distance race without looking at cut offs or taking peds!
65 quid… why is it so cheap?
Mud on the run … yuk?!
If I don’t go sub 5:30 I’ll be smashing heads!!!
Good race ?
It’s just a no frills race, transition is a field next to the lake but parking is free. No race provided nutrition but the bike and run are 2 laps and you can leave a bottle on the bike at the start of the lap, I think they put a table out. Similar for the run.
Run and bike are marshalled so you shouldn’t get lost, and it has chip timing.
I bet there’s loads of merch you can buy though right?
Yeah, cakes and drinks at the cafe over the road!
And a limited edition Brietling watch ![]()
