OK, so it’s not quite the 1 day notice situation I mentioned in response to @Poet a while back on another thread. But I’ve just decided and signed up to do this … in 9 days.
Haven’t done any real off road running of note this year really. Haven’t run this distance since I last did this very route during summer solstice 2020. Haven’t even been doing any hill work. So unprepared is probs an understatement!
Ran it in under 6hrs last time. Won’t be going anywhere near that this time, but doing it as a bit of a jolly with a mate. Felt like doing something fun, the dates work and the start line is about a mile from my house.
I think, from memory, SWCP is about 600 odd miles. From Minehead to Studland. I think i’ve run at least half of it so far. Would like to connect the dots of the other sections over the next few years.
The Dorset coast path, or South West coast path as some like to call it, apparently extends all the way into Devon and beyond but it’s advisable to carry a musket or at least a big stick once you leave Lyme Regis.
Cheers @jeffb i did the Standard this year and caused controversy by winning the AG English champs by coming 5th. Despite checking and telling them I was a member of Triathlon Scotland they awarded me the title as the qualification criteria wording was based on being a member of a federation.
Would be good to have a go at the sprint next year
