I slept in a skip full of builders rubbish just off Morningside road once, under a tarp/hedge is luxury.
Anyone know of any new long distance tris being scheduled for 2023, haven’t raced since 2019 and looking for something interesting to get the mojo back to get me to start training again?
Just received this with early access to Sweden, Copenhagen, Cork and Vichy
The deferrals are useful
You have the exclusive front row pass for early entry into four of Europe’s knock-out races, plus with Flex90, if you register within the First 90 Days of the event opening, you have enhanced flexibility if the unexpected happens.
Soak up the electric energy of the crowds as you power to the top of Windmill Hill at IRONMAN Ireland, Cork; dance your way down the red carpet at the epic IRONMAN Kalmar finish line party; crank it up in Europe’s capital of cool at IRONMAN Copenhagen, or indulge in French elegance along tree-lined boulevards and art-deco design at IRONMAN Vichy.
Read on below to learn more and make the most of your priority entry window!
Commit with Confidence with Flex90
With Flex90, IRONMAN’s enhanced First 90 Days Registration offer, if your plans change, you can adjust your race date to fit your new goal. Benefits are available when you register for a 2023 IRONMAN event within the First 90 Days of the event’s registration opening and are redeemable up to 7-days prior to the event start:
Fee-free transfer to any available IRONMAN (or IRONMAN 70.3) event within the region, in 2023
Free deferral to the same IRONMAN event in 2024
Partial registration refund for withdrawals (where a transfer or deferral is not issued)
6 months free when you sign-up for a FulGaz annual subscription, IRONMAN’s indoor cycling platform
£550 for Copenhagen. Ouchy. I’m still tempted though.
Is this with AWA?
I’m not totally sure, fairly sure I don’t have AWA as I didn’t do any of their races last year, although I did enter some.
It does say priority entry though ![]()
I’ve received the same and 2019 was the last non-UK IM race I did. I did sign up for another in 2020 but got a refund on it eventually.
“I tried to get out, but they pulled me back in.”
Spent this season noodling around, doing spectacularly badly at a couple of sprint triathlons, and generally considering myself retired from longer distances.
Then - out of the blue- I had an email saying I’d essentially deferred my 2022 IM Copenhagen to 2023. A bolt out of the blue and then some……when I’d fallen ill I don’t think I even remembered deferring to 2022.
Anyway, long story short. Fat bastard who nearly beats run time with bike time on a sprint, ffs, now in for IM Copenhagen on the basis of refusing to slap that gift horse in the mouth. Have 1 year to lose approx 4 stone and remember how to run.
Triathlon, eh? Bloody hell.
The write ups on here for Copenhagen have been great.
I’m excited for you, keep us updated ![]()
Well yeah, it’s literally the 4th version I’ve entered!!
One day my kids will get the hot dogs we’ve promised them since 2019! (Looking over at wife- we think it’s hot dogs on corners that are famous in Copenhagen, but tbh it’s been so bloody long we’ve forgotten…)
We will make it to Tivoli though, oh yes, we will….
Do it ![]()

Oh man I’ve got so much love for this. Ace when something like that happens. Do it!
Back of an envelope
4 stone= 25kg
25*9000=225Mcal deficit required
/365 = only 616kcal per day energy deficit
Run 2-4 more miles and knock back 1-2 less beers every day for a year…
…job done & IM glory awaits ![]()
Thanks all.
I’m already entered, no need for persuasion. It was all sort of already done for me, just needed to shake myself out of my stupor and click a link.
I was blind but now I see….
Certainly feels like scales lifted from eyes. Was half in a mind to call my own GP about antidepressants the day before, such was my malaise….
Get after it big guy!
I hovered over the enter button several times for three weeks tomorrow …!
Some tests early next week to see how much I’ll embarrass myself.
But certainly more tri focused this last few weeks, you have time start steady and build.
Looks like I’ll be heading to the Lakesman half next year, hopefully add another one in August or maybe go for a longer lead in to Escape from Meriden '23 if I can get a place again
Early entry email for Wales and next year’s Italian draftfest ![]()
Just registered for Wales. Need to get that DNF off my back!
Well done, takes balls that.
Bravo! Good on ya!
