I was tempted by the IM in Italy but seeing that video and hearing about the drafting in other years I’m less sure, especially after Saturday’s weather as well.

Don’t think I’ll be in the country, and if I am I won’t have trained properly all summer, and I really don’t think I could do 3x ironmans in 15 months.
But I still have an itch worse than scabies to click the email

I’ve been trying to find a time to approach it with Mrs GB. Obviously not the cost bit, but just the entering bit!

But, you’re right. I have loads of family in the area, so could pretty easily find a bed for the weekend for me and the family. Cousin lives in Tenby town. Last time i stayed at her old house that was a 1 min walk to transition! Very handy. Also meant Mrs GB had a base to chill out at when i was out on the bike.

So. I spoke to Mrs GB tonight about IMW.
First reaction ‘oh not that again. That was bloody hard work spectating’.
I then explained how massive that first race was for me, being my first foray into proper endurance stuff. My benchmarks are very different today. I don’t need any support. If she doesn’t want to come up at all with the kids. I’ll happily do it alone (I held back the fact that I’d rather go solo). If she wants to come up and just watch the last hour. Crack on. Fine with me. I’m in a very different place to ten yrs ago.
If I can spread the cost out a bit I think I may be sold. Might just chuck it on the 0% and take it from there.
Running out of reasons not to now! Going solo would actually make my life much easier. But I’ll just let that play out naturally.

Genuinely happy racing in cold and wet conditions. I’m actually really crap in the heat. Its the wind that I bloody hate.
