Amen to that. I like the support, I really do but it just seems to add stress to me. I need IM Ilkley or something, they can just rock up for the run.

Yep. When you go on your own you can just be 100% focussed and selfish. If they’re there. I’ll be worrying about them, making sure they’re OK, know where they’re going, have stuf to do etc etc. Feeling guilty about juggling the kids.
But if I’m solo. It’s me time, and go time. I just have to be careful in how I phrase that!

Yep. Last race I did with the wife/kids was in 2019. It’s all the pre race faff that’s just so much easier. Also, once that’s done, you can genuinely put your feet up and not have to worry about anything else.
I bought lunch in Tenby this year and ate it on the beach reading a book and watched the world go by - was bliss

Yep, exactly this. LCW with family is great but IM can be a bit stressful for all involved.

Yeah, fairly sure they’re athlete specific unfortunately.
But as before if you sign up early I think you benefit from the payment plan and better options in case you need to defer etc

Yeah, I’ve decided to do it too, only if the price stays at the current level. If that quota fills and the price goes up before general registration opens then I’ll choose something else.
I raised this with MrsB the other night. She laughed and just said we both know you’re going back just get on with it ffs

The Pirates have chosen IMW for their championship event next year so potentially a fair few in black and yellow turning up, not me though, no, no, no, never again.

It’s tempting but I only have the Focus Paralane now, although would be a laugh to see how many IMJ types I could overtake on that. 
I don’t think you’d give up a huge amount on a roadie on the Wales course to be honest. Especially if you have a history of back problems, then the TT may not have been the best call for you on a course like this anyway.

@Bob yeah similar to me. If it jumps up a price bracket, that’ll cause me to stop and have a very good think. I’ve popped a calendar reminder on Tues, but i’m in a meeting all day. So hopefully there’ll be spaces still by the evening.
I’ve got the excitement/adrenaline now that i get when i finally decide to commit to a race.

I’m definitely faster on the course on the TT bike (I’ve done on my Bianchi one with clip ons) but not to the degree I’d worry about it. I’d definitely be in ‘shits and giggles’ AG

Ha, a similar problem. I’m on the hills Tuesday and mobile data signals are few and far between. Celtman is my first choice and I’ll be more disappointed with that slipping the net than Wales but we’ll see.

I kind of have the opposite problem to some of you guys. Have entered an IM for 2023 and am now really not sure if I want to do it.
Back when I entered was looking for something new and challenging to do overseas. But since then something else has come along which fits the bill. Not sure I need 2 things like that on the go at the same time.
Think I’m going to have to set a deadline to decide. Really 50:50 at the moment. The extra flights will add another £1k to the cost and it starts to look like a pretty expensive vanity project. On the other hand I’m never going to be a fresh faced M50 again with a winter long warm weather training camp. So, horses for courses
