Good race. I might jump on this next year.
Race Around Rwanda beginning of Feb with Sarah She’s gone from someone who never wanted to cycle again after TCR to now being the one who has had to persuade me into this. 1000km ~20,000m. 400km gravel and constant up and down elevation.
It was only a matter of time

Did those of you that fancied it get into the 50km?
If you snooze, you lose as it’s filled up now .
Not sure if I fancy training for what’s involved in the 100km as I also enjoy my cycling/swimming.
Just blag it. You’ll be fine.
That’s reassuring, do you provide training plans ?
I don’t watch the Julie Elliot channel anymore but I think she did a few clips about that. Might be worth a look.
I kind of fancied it but I just can’t get on board with UTMB these days. That’s a hard as nails 50km though, although the cut off is generous.
I recently did a 100k in the lakes (7 valleys) off of IM training. Was surprised how well the fitness transitioned over.
I’m moving over to Ultras next year & will keep plenty of cycling in my training.
So, i would say go for it! Looks an awesome race!
Doing the 25km with Mrs T as part of her training to hopefully get into OCC in 2025.
Also a week after Thames Path 100m so anything over 25km would be a step too far
@Edge - how did you find the 7 valleys - looked like a really good event?
2024, blimey that’s come round fast.
After being pleasantly surprised at how well I went on my ride round Wales last month, after all my breathing problems earlier in the year, I’m keen for more.
I have pencilled in a week in May to bikepack up the west coast of Scotland and back over Lewis/Harris and Skye.
I might well look to do a second trip at the end of the summer but need to give some thought as to where that might be.
Will no doubt carry on with my puerile ticking of 100/200 climbs, although having got a quarter of the way through the list, they are getting progressively further away from home.
Great event! Really well organised.
It was hard, more technical than i was expecting (me being an idiot!). It was one of those races that was horrible at the time, but looking back was pretty cool.
Hoping to do the full 13 valleys next year…
If you head east to Aboyne area let me know
Hmmmm, Cairngorms definitely a hole in my experience … for hiking, let alone cycling.
Hardly spent any time there

It was one of those races that was horrible at the time, but looking back was pretty cool.
Here’s the bad news, they’re nearly all like that
Celtman ballot is open. Just sayin’…
This is top of my want to race list but I never get through the ballot. I feel like trying again but it would screw my plans for next year if I get in… which means this year I’ll probably get in. Decisions.
Going and marshalling might help future chances but it’s not a guarantee. If I don’t get in I’ll probably go help out as it was fun last time and it’s always fun to cycle the Bealach loop or run Beinn Eighe in the days preceding the event.
In honesty I don’t really want to race it again but my two white T-shirts are my biggest triathlon peeve. I’d like to do “well” at Celtman, finally.
Midgetastic!
was reading this morning that the New Years Day tri in Edinburgh is in danger of not happening if entries aren’t improved.
“Ok folks we need your help. Right now the race entry numbers are not great and if we do not see a big increase in the next week or so the race is in danger of not happening. Please if you are thinking about entering then now is the time to do so. If you know someone who should be entering give them a nudge and please share the entrycentral link far and wide.”
