Soo TCR #10 is Istanbul…I have a source on the ground at Rouler live.

@Sowler are you planning to enter? Looks like a tough course, we will fly through Northern Europe in 2 days. A lot of the ride will be in Greece and Turkey

We will be entering yes. Quite excited at the prospect again for some stupid reason :see_no_evil:

70.3 Weymouth

I’ve been thinking about Weymouth as it’ll be in the new window for the WC after NZ but it’s been seriously plagued with fouls weather. Seemingly year after year. This years race looked utterly miserable even for my standards - and no swim - maybe a late entry

It would almost be as quick for you to go to somewhere like Belgium or Duisburg?

Yeah I need to look through the race lists - need a term time friendly race no interest in qualifying for NZ though

Northern Europe could be good and just drive over

I’m wondering when the qualifying will changeover.

They haven’t announced the 2025 venue or date yet? I think Alcudia was a possibility?

the actual race at weymouth is fine , but the journey there and back was a nightmare

easier to travel overseas as Jeffb says

Frontier300 entered.
I might even do it :person_shrugging:t3::roll_eyes::money_with_wings:

Probably do Wilmslow Tri as well.

Decided not to risk a 70.3/140.6 seeing as I can barely run.
Plus OW swimming is now a rip off (~£10 inc parking/fuel etc) and it’s too far away, blah blah blah. I don’t like swimming OW alone either, so the free lake is out. (That’s also a 26mile round trip)

Looking at the cost, I don’t feel triathlons give that back to me as a “value proposition” :person_shrugging:t3:

I might enter the Fred Whitton Challenge again. I did it as my first ever sportive in 2005 I think it was. I ended up sitting in the feed stations for 90 mins waiting for slower mates who couldn’t cycle down hills in the wet without hitting dry stone dykes. At the time I knew nothing about gearing so I was on a 39x25 and had to walk the last two upper passes.

Charity entry = £199 with £100 of that going to local mountain rescue who I like donating to (because one day I’ll probably need 'em ).

I’m undecided…

Wish that Frontier 300 was a week earlier I’d have been straight in.

look at Ch’triman in Gravelines - between Calais and Dunkirk - probably the closest middle (they also have a long on same day) distance to the UK. Can almost be done as a day trip.

Jesus, that’s a baptism of fire! :scream:

I think he might want a WC qualifier?

Having driven most of them now, there is no way that I’m cycling them :joy::joy::joy:

Not gonna lie - I also had to walk part of Hardknott and Wryenose

Absolute beasts of climbs and right at the end of the course as well

It’s a good shout, @Doonhamer may have done that a couple of years ago?

Was that the tri that started in the dark with flares lighting the way?

WC slot isn’t a dealbreaker but I’d like to go back depending on the next location which I thought was Spain. As Jeff said, nothing confirmed yet

Me and Mrs FB did the standard distance there a number of years ago. It’s quite a weekend festival with kids racing on Saturday and the adults doing varying distances on Sunday. Apart from a few hills on the longer distance bike legs it’s a pretty flat course. You get a good club vibe as well as when we were there it was also a champs event for the department and quite a number of Belgian clubs showed up as it’s not that far for them to get to either.

Doon did it last year as well. I’m probably doing it the week after Westfriesland
