2024 Races

Chtriman was the middle I did last year between Calais & Dunkirk. No need for flares as it had a very generous mid-day start.

Obviously really easy to get to, but it’ll be in term time I think.

I didn’t do a report but my Strava gives a bit of info.

What were the road surfaces like, Doon?

A fair mixture, but there was no gravel riding .

I remember on the return we were on narrow roads running parallel to a canal which although not a great surface was closed to traffic.

I think the climb at Mont Cassel was cobbled or there were some cobbles at the top.

Just noticed Ryanair are flying out of Manchester direct to Valencia , I have always refused to give them my business but it’s a tempting option now.

I’ve transferred to Westfriesland now, didn’t really fit in with early season plans.

Have you entered?

I know what you mean, although I did have 3 flights with them last year, was scared to breathe on the flight in case they charged me :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

FW was my first sportif too, in 2006. I had done Helvellyn tri in 2004 and 2005 but that really didn’t prepare me for the descents off Hardknott and Wrynose, I was petrified.
The next time I did them was on the Coast to Coast, 12 years later, when both descents were a piece of piss - I guess all my experience of steep, narrow roads with crap surfaces in NE Wales prepared me well.

I have never made it up Hardknott without walking in 3 attempts.

Assuming there are no unexpected expenditure this month then I will enter Outlaw Nott’ Half but really fancy entering the Outlaw, without making it a big deal for myself. My current thinking, maybe enter it but focus on getting as fit as possible for halfs and if I do the Outlaw then just focus on trying to fuel it properly and the time will be what it is.

Edit: @Poet did you enter for 2024?

No triathlon for me next year.
I can’t run well enough to justify the cost :person_shrugging:t3::joy:

Entered the Fred. Guess I should get out of bed and onto the winter bike :man_shrugging: :flushed:

I’ve booked some luxury accommodation for a treat. I certainly won’t be slumming it. I just pray my mate’s girlfriend decides against coming so we can share and split the :dollar:.
