2024 Races

I see you probably meant TTs.
They’re not great - boring and on awful roads you wouldn’t want to cycle on.

UH10 is absolutely an awesome road to ride on, and when it’s a TT, it’s even better as you don’t need to stop to pay the toll.

I enjoyed 10TTs about five years ago, except when I got lost, which was about 50% of the time. #channelingskipper

40km and 100km would be more of a challenge, but they seemed rare and open roads with weird requirements.

What I want is like a normal race, organised event, pay a fee and have safety and directions properly covered - like an IM. May not exist though.

Brother is a much stronger runner and athlete so the plan is for him to finish most of the strength intervals to give me a breather before each run.

Ski 700/300 him finishing 1:50/500 split target
Push i will step in when needed
Pull we’ll share with him finishing
Burpees as above
Row 600/400 i have been practicing rowing feet strapless to help switch over 1:47/500 target
Farmer carries will share
Lunges will be mostly him as i fall over doing them :flushed:
Wall balls shared.

We did a practice event at a local gym but there were no sleds so its hard to judge how the real thing will go. Ran 4:30s at the start and finished the last few at 4:20ish overall took us about 50mins

I like the DC TTs especially in the NE, the 50 & 100s tend to be early mornings so traffic is light. Apart from that the longer rides are going to be sportive or audax events but not really TT friendly.

You mean, like a bike race?
As organised by BC clubs or TLR?

Loads of ‘em.
Mostly closed roads, or rolling road blocks …

… but again, they’re crap for the most part.
86 laps of a 1km loop anyone?

That’s a joke, but one up here is laps of an industrial estate up in Skelmersdale :face_vomiting::nauseated_face:

Most motor race circuits have cycle events, either TTs or crits. Closed, wide road. If there is one near you, could be worth a punt.

I see!
Is the sled 152 total ?

Somebody jumping in when your on the last breath would really help, the pair I was on about ( male) have done several events together and are really slick.

The wall balls would be much much quicker for sure

A point to note is you can’t pass the ski/ row handles to each other anymore ( recent rule change) you have to put them back to neutral/ resting position.

To maintain 4:20/ 4:30 even in pairs is some effort, people are surprised how “ slow “ you can run repeated kms and still do ok as long as your ok at the stations.

Good luck and please do a report, most of the pencil necks love hyrox really ! Lol

Payday means I’m officially in for Lakesman (Half) next year. It’ll be fine right?

I’ll be flying solo as the timings don’t work for making a weekend of it with the family, so if anyone else ends up doing it and fancies hooking up (steady) give me a shout nearer the time.

Some running races then Outlaw half, maybe Holkham or Cotswold depending on us deciding on a TT smackdown race. Possibly a couple of sprints.

Did I read on here Lakesman is approaching its last year as well? I’m not being left with many big races for 2025 at this rate.

It’s only the full distance they’re dropping. I think this year was the last, for now.

There is a new one at Windermere though, different organisers.

Ah yes I had read about that one. Hopeful either that or one of the other present ones will survive ± turn into something bigger to rival what Lakesman was.

And :crossed_fingers:for the Yorkshire weekend, I was excited by that but already booked up that weekend.

Publishing that publicly at this stage means there’s zero impetus for other people to commit this early.

Even if I was targeting it I wouldn’t enter til April-May unless I thought it was selling out, especially with the no refund policy.
