Plan B is I rig my Canyon broken front derailer frame in the big ring, for Cotswolds. I did Swansea in the small ring because the climbs, lost loads of time on the few flats and downhills. Cotswolds 113 is fine on a 1 by not sure about the Classic.

Thanks all. I’ll write more later but suffice to say. After I finished, I got changed, had the car warming up, bought some chips from the van and ate them in the car with engine running. I drove home with the heater on full, had a shower here and I’m still cold! 
Anna, that smile was forced, the lady taking the photo told me to. I don’t mind admitting, I sat in the car and burst into tears!
That finish took everything I had, and then some.

Thanks Anna, didn’t feel tough today! I know we always give Rds grief for not letting people make their own choices but a quite a few of the Big Feat races attract newbies. I’d almost go as far as saying I don’t that that race was particularly safe today, given the exposure, the forecast and the terribly muddy conditions of the trails, I reckon they should have knocked everyone down to the 15 miler.
The rain started about 10 mins after I passed the split, if it had been 10 mins before, knowing how fierce it was, I would have turned right and taken the 15 for sure.

Superb work. It turns out that I knew a few people doing the race (both distances). I saw a few photos and it did look pretty miserable and muddy out there. This is one result to really be proud of.

You’ll be fine in the big ring for the Classic too. Might have to get out of the saddle once or twice but that’s about it.
