Live to race another day jazzy Jeff
Smart move imo
Wow
A rather windy race at Bamburgh today, the standard distance duathlon 10km and 5km runs are approx 60% on the beach and a rather rolling and exposed ride.
Pretty pleased with today, 5th overall, 1st Snr Vet and best of all the fastest bike split of the day and a new CDA best of 0.191 from myWindsock. I need to work on the run but it is moving in the right direction.
Saw the results and barely 90 seconds off second overall, but 1st was a bit further ahead.
Good form, once the duathlon season is over you should put in some good performances on the TT’s?
That is the current thinking but I want a decent crack at the British standard du champs in October. I will need to keep my bike form and be able to deliver a 36 min 10km.
I came into T2 in 2nd place after my bike today after leaving T1 in 7th but I knew I couldn’t outrun the runners and had to settle for 5th.
That CDA
How did you get it so low- trial and error & great kit etc, or did you have a proper fit done or something?
Good question @fruit_thief, primarily trial and error in regard to the position. I went from the extreme set up using 40° USE bars to now using 25° Wattshop bars.
I know a lot of TT’ers who will comment on my position during the warm ups etc.
I have a good job and can find a bargain so I do use the likes of nopinz kit, wattshop bars and the new S Works TT5 lid has made a difference.
My position closely resembles Vincent Luis’ position using the same lid and bars.
The picture below was from last weeks TT isn’t great but you get the idea. Waiting for the pictures from yesterday’s race to see what it is like in multisport mood rather than TT. I can happily say I am NOT looking down but the new position and helmet affords me a good visibility
@fruit_thief picture from yesterday
What is that helmet ..?
Be like putting lipstick on a pig .. but still want one .. as long as they are under a tenner ? .. ish
Do you have a son called Luke?
It is the SWorks TT5
I hum the Imperial March when I put it on.
Bet that strikes proper fear into the heart of all other riders when you flash past.
Looks like a fantastic narrow position, can see how your frontal area is being minimised - thanks for posting it
I think I have one shoulder wider than both yours…
Bit of a late post but went over to Berlin just over a week ago to do the half marathon. Well actually I was supporting Jan and my brother. I have mentioned him before, has had a difficult last 10/15 years or so but at the age of 59 decided to take up running having never done any before. Roll on to 61 (last Wednesday) and he is now doing his first half marathon. I have never seen a happier runner, ok he still needs to loose a lot of weight and he missed a lot of sessions, however on the day he got into a rhythm and stuck with it. Managed to follow him around and see him 6 times. At 19k it was a little dusty for me as I knew at that point he would do it and how much he wanted it. 3h 21m which he was very happy about.
And this was the reward afterwards
Nice !!!
And the ale
Well done
Lovely story mate , well done to Bruv and you for the support.
Congratulations to Jan and your brother, lovely story
