How do you know this?
Do people make their power numbers public on Strava?
Sorry. Third post in a row.
But I’m doing an event from Friday and into Saturday…Dales Divide.
FWIW I don’t hide mine but only followers can view. What is it going to gain them.
Finishing time is what matters.
Yeah. People used to hide them - I hide mine as doing a 3hr ride at 250W for 22kmh is embarrassing
I hide my HR, too.
Just too many variables really.
If they’re better than me they’ll beat me regardless of some arbitrary numbers.
Although I appreciate on virtual races malfunctioning meters or dubious weight makes a difference!
I’ve got a couple of club mates doing DD, I understand it’s a tough event. One of them DNF’d last year but it had been considerably wetter than this so hopefully better going for you.
Paging @Chriswim the 2025 Hanging Stone leap is on 29th June if you’re near the homeland. 13/25 mile versions available and a nice route.
I did the 21k version last year and it was enjoyable, assuming you knew the correct way down from Hanging Stone, or enjoyed randomly running around the woods
Ooo. Thanks I’m off work
You in? @jeffb
Possibly, it’s the Northumbrianman that day as well but I haven’t entered and will more likely do the shorter version of this after last year’s cockup! Must go and recce the section from Hanging Stone if it doesn’t change again!
Short route in case you are interested, did the long in 2022 as well.
Snuck in an aquathlon this morning. 1km swim, then a 5km run at a resort called Al Maha Island.
No wetsuits as sea is now 26C
Had a very light week due to sheer laziness , but perhaps as a result felt surprisingly good and fresh this morning, was happy with 15m21 + 19m47.
Edit: spent about 30 minutes after the race comparing hips with the other M50+s . It felt good today , but I think because of the low milage week. Also I have been quite good with doing mobility stuff since it started hurting again after a longer run 2 weeks ago
Good work Fruity!
You should check out the GB AG Aquathlon team. You’d clean up.
Very cool
He might have some work to do - last 50-54 winner over same distances at ET Champs in 2023 swam 13:03 and ran 18mins; at World champs winner was 14:10 and 18:17. Format changed in 2024 at Townsville World Champs to run, swim, run.
How does that work in colder climates?
All well and good in the ME, but wouldn’t fancy getting my wetsuit on after a run in Northern Europe!
Yeah that’s not happening
The sport here is small and the bar feels quite low, know it’s pretty different back home. That said, the winner yesterday was a Moroccan guy in his 20s, he swam 13m23 and ran 16m29 so no slouch.
I might be wrong but aren’t there specific swim run wetsuits for running?
God knows how you don’t die from overheating and chafing though
Yeah, usually only knee length I think? My mate is into the Breca type ones but never really interested me.
Run-swim-run only happens when it’s a wetsuit illegal event i.e. water temp above limits - as was the case at the Worlds in Townsville last year when water was 23.1C.
BUT this temp is wetsuit legal for the over 60s although format wasn’t changed so I guess it was up to each athlete to choose wetsuit or not.
Not triathlon but ÖTILLÖ events have wetsuits. ( I think optional above 19C). I can’t imagine running in one!
