Well done, 6hrs for 166km with someone struggling is still pretty good ![]()
That’s some bike !
Great racing
Awesome work there @leahnp
Now back from a weekend of TO duties in Llanelli. I was Chief for the BTF Superseries and Paratri Series yesterday - Mrs FB was Chief for the Llanelli Sprint Tri today which was Welsh Superseries, Welsh Champs and Tim Cymru Qualifier.
Good to see the likes of Dave Ellis and Luke Pollard rocking up for the Paratri - nice to have the Olympic and World Champs in the mix.
Sunburnt from yesterday……oops.
I know its not the done thing round here but i did a tri!
Local one put on by my club Tri Force, pool sprint. Cracking weather for it.
Registered and racked by 6am, around 200 entries, including lots from the club with many others volunteer marshalling. Other local clubs send a lot of their 1st timers.
Seeded swim, 8 lanes, snaking. Got busy but i was grouped with people i knew and roughly the same speed. Out in 8 mins, par for me given I barely do any swim training.
Out the door, small transition but 400m run out to get to the road and mount point.
Went full TT bike, had to get out of the university which has a few roundabouts to negotiate, some decent roads but some shocking surfaces to be really careful on.
Enjoyed myself, didnt get overtaken and did plenty myself. Back into T2 in about 40 mins, official time 42 including the run to transtion.
Sockless transition made things quick. Out and round a semi trail parkrun course. One out and back with a dead turn, saw a few people I knew i could run down and a very quick runner behind me, so put a bit of an effort in, caught one and held off the guy behind. Finished in 22 mins.
Total 1h14 xx
25/164 finishers
Pleased with that overall, want to get my cycling strength back a little bit as my power on the TT bike is well down on what I should be able to.
Tri for me too … I’m just waiting to hear if I’ve been disqualified ( which would probably .. change the race report ?!)
Oh the drama..!
Right … no dq!
Personally I think I got away with one there ..
say no more about it…..
Nantwich triathlon my 8 th time doing this race
Why ? It’s 90 quid a pop and the bike course is pot hole city …
I was off at 9:20 and got up at 8 o’clock ( mostly this)
A 4.5 min journey there
Register the day before (and I get to see my family who I love very much )
Hanging about at the start … I don’t like getting up early and anything for an easy life.
Swim actually put a seeded time down ?!?
It was still the same Breast stroke carnage
11:11?
Better than sept at least
Bike 35 ish … it’s 21 kms .. 36 kph av the pot holes are getting bigger and I really need 30 mm tyres now
Bastard pump fell off so stopped to get it ( it’s a good un) apart from that went well .. ish
Run 4:16 kms .. with my recent calf issues made up with that to be honest
Head is sunburnt but no actual
“ Injuries”
Total time 1:10:29
34 th out 700 ish ( lots of novice people to be honest but they smile a lot)
2 nd 55-60 old pensioner
Gutted set myself a sub 1:10 target this year but I’ll get two more goes hopefully …!
Lovely to chat to my fellow fitness nuts before ( not so much during ) and after the race.
Onwards.
I feel like there are some details missing here… ![]()
Those “ details” will always be missing
Thank duck !
Bastard breast strokers ! .. it was only a “ small “ left hook
Great racing folks ![]()
Need more info on the potential DQ so I can raise the matter with the event TO…… but if you whacked a breast stroker for being an arse, that’s a blind eye job….![]()
Yes. Was it ducking or heavy petting?
(actually that sounds worse than I intended)
No such madness !
A few breast strokers moved over actually
I thought I had swam 14 l instead of 16, 33 m pool.
Motorbike TO warned me about crossing the white lines but all officials were top notch .. as usual.
Wasn’t that sort of event… but I have a “ friend” that organises stuff like that if you’re interested?
Best behaviour as always these days.
Race went well I’m just a crappy swimmer.
I had wondered how it went, surprised that there wasn’t enough takers in M55. I’ve seen the course and I think there’s about 1500M ascent on the bike which isn’t going to suit me, not that I want a draft-fest either so didn’t bother.
Not sure Marbella has the same allure as Nice either although everyone that has been has raved about it.
Tor Divide for me tomorrow.
Suns out.
Looking mint for a 200km ride around the Peaks.
Good luck
Tt bike / 20 mm tyres?
If in doubt flat out ..?!?
No !
So … going downhill thinking you’re on an MTB on a gravel bike with rigid forks and 35mm tyres doesn’t end well.
A painful DNF for me.
Did a nice little somersault down a hill and winded myself, smashed my knee, walking the uphills … until I bailed on the main road back.
Managed 180km total 2,800m.
