Some of these events cost more than three nights, with flights and bike transfer, in Mallorca. And Iām including food in that, too.

Staffs 70.3 was Ā£273, with fees. And that was expensive!

You are definitely stuck in past with regards to prices but I totally agree and part of the reason I donāt really race anymore.

Yes, still going or was this year. I only did it once, absolutely tossed it down all day on the bike, utterly drenched but the run was a bit better.
2019 I entered Staffs at that price. Which is Ā£351 in todays money.
Ā£85 in 2009 (New Forest event prices. Ish) is Ā£135 today. So Iād say those prices, are indeed, WILD and far outstrip inflation.
I remember saving up Ā£120 to buy some Nike TNs in my teenage years. Theyāre the same price now.
I bought a PS2 and game and spare pad for Ā£400 in 2000, a PS5 is barely more than that now.
The price of triathlons is ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. And bears no resemblance to inflation.
Yeah itās in a beautiful part of the world but itās a long way from the SE. By the time youāve driven to an airport, parked, waited 2 hours for your flight (because you got there early due to bike box), flown, waited for luggage, waited for hire car, got lost leaving airportā¦ thatās 8 hours gone anyway. May as well drive to NW Scotland.
2005 was like that. Started raining as the swim got going, hammered it down on the bike, stopped raining when I finished the run. I remember pouring water out of my deep rim wheels when we got home.
They need to update their āsample basketā to include fanny candles, imported Guatemalan coffee beans and Kona entry/flights.

You know Iām in āPoetland,ā right? Iām 12 minutes from Manchester airport. Which turned out to be 12 hours home to sat on a bike in Mallorca.

@joex - Fanny candles havenāt really gone up since 2018. A Diptyque candle was Ā£65 back then. Itās Ā£72 now. Which is around 1.04% inflation. Meaning the candles are more affordable now than ever
