I feel the ROC tries to put itself up alongside the other bigger events in the country. In which case:

Belvoir Castle was £80 when I last did it. And I only did it once.

The lake is a horrible thing.

Bala? Five times.

Vitruvian? Five times.

I’d not do Belvoir again due to the lake.

T100 and Swansea prices are obscene. Like, ghastly overpriced for what is five hours exercise.

I’d pay £200 for the Brutal. But not the Lakesman or Outlaw Half :raised_hand:

Some of these events cost more than three nights, with flights and bike transfer, in Mallorca. And I’m including food in that, too.

It’s ridiculous.

Staffs 70.3 was £273, with fees. And that was expensive!

You are definitely stuck in past with regards to prices but I totally agree and part of the reason I don’t really race anymore.

We’ve been on cycling holidays far cheaper than the cost of a race entry!

Yes, still going or was this year. I only did it once, absolutely tossed it down all day on the bike, utterly drenched but the run was a bit better.

2019 I entered Staffs at that price. Which is £351 in todays money.

£85 in 2009 (New Forest event prices. Ish) is £135 today. So I’d say those prices, are indeed, WILD and far outstrip inflation.

I remember saving up £120 to buy some Nike TNs in my teenage years. They’re the same price now.

I bought a PS2 and game and spare pad for £400 in 2000, a PS5 is barely more than that now.

The price of triathlons is ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. And bears no resemblance to inflation.

Yeah it’s in a beautiful part of the world but it’s a long way from the SE. By the time you’ve driven to an airport, parked, waited 2 hours for your flight (because you got there early due to bike box), flown, waited for luggage, waited for hire car, got lost leaving airport… that’s 8 hours gone anyway. May as well drive to NW Scotland.

2005 was like that. Started raining as the swim got going, hammered it down on the bike, stopped raining when I finished the run. I remember pouring water out of my deep rim wheels when we got home.

They need to update their ‘sample basket’ to include fanny candles, imported Guatemalan coffee beans and Kona entry/flights.

You know I’m in “Poetland,” right? I’m 12 minutes from Manchester airport. Which turned out to be 12 hours home to sat on a bike in Mallorca.

Not sure how I’d break up eight hour drive …

@joex - Fanny candles haven’t really gone up since 2018. A Diptyque candle was £65 back then. It’s £72 now. Which is around 1.04% inflation. Meaning the candles are more affordable now than ever :sweat_smile:
