Not me but was following someone I know at Valencia 70.3 today so had a look at the M55 results. Fark me, it’s either a short\fast course or every racing snake in Europe turned up! The M55 winner did 4:16 and almost beat M45 & M50, ran 1:19
Something like 16 people went sub 5. What are these people eating! Laidlaw won with 3:33 for reference, and that’s his job!
I’ll have to see if my mate posts it on Strava to see if the distances are accurate.
Manchester Marathon 2027 entered ![]()
Mexican eggs
Me also
Son as also entered and has set himself a sub 3 target
My target is rather more modest ![]()
That is my target!
No, I am joking. I am hoping for something in the 3h10 - 3h20 range.
I have also entered.
Did the race yesterday. Hobbled round with the wife after months of injury.
Hoping to give it a proper go next year! It’s a great event ![]()
There’s a very early thread for 2027 races ![]()

Ah.
So my ridiculous weekend is over.
Friday - PM Turf Games engine. Finish 7th out of 50 odd pairs with some seriously decent competition there. London events always have some of the best. Made up 2 places on the burpees and DB snatches somehow, but we did fly through them. It is much less of a running event that one and it was pretty brutal. 100 cal assault bike to finish was grim!
Sunday - AM. 36 hour turn around to Manchester Marathon. The longest runs I have done have been 16kms bar one 20 a month ago. I decide to do it 2 weeks ago. Weekly mileage 40-50km. I was very relaxed and set myself zero expectations apart from pace the girl I coach for as long as I could for a 3:45 and pray I didn’t give myself a major injury. Bottom right under and outside of my foot started hurting quite early on, stomach wasn’t overly happy for most of it. Stopped having gels at about the 2.5 hour mark. I think I’d done 4? 30km had a caffeine built instead, it hit like rocket fuel and I started picking the pace up to 4:50s. 2mins up from the target and we were both feeling relatively good. 4km from the end, she had vicious stomach cramps and was in agony. I quite literally had to drag her by the hand to the finish for a 3:52. Ran the lot in zone 2 and 3. Av HR was 153
Foot is still a bit sore. Not too sure whats going on, I’ve had the pain there before. Fairly sure its not a meta tarsal stress fracture. Support on course was actually INSANE! Bar a long straight that goes on forever! Almost too loud and overwhelming at times! I’ve actually surprised myself at being able to churn those things out over 36 hours in that fashion
Now’s THATS a weekend!
Kudos good Sir.
Maybe it was a good thing to get the IMWC fully back to Kona after all…
Ironman have put a post out this morning saying this year’s races and the 70.3 WC is safe, I’m guessing contractually it would be a big payout to cancel at this stage.
Quite what it means going forward remains to be seen as they’re supposed to be hosting the WC in 2028 as well. 2027 still hasn’t been announced but almost certainly in America
I’m guessing the new mayor won a nimby vote of a few people that don’t like others enjoying themselves!
Edit: some businesses and locals will like the tax cuts he’s proposing, the ones that make money from generally wealthy triathletes probably won’t!
Nice mayor!? He sounds really mean
Ran the Shakespeare half today. Nice closed road route around the Staffordshire countryside. Big event, also includes a 2 lap marathon although I bet that gets lonely on the 2nd lap. Local villages seem to embrace being blocked in their houses, lots of people out with cardboard signs for friends, relatives or just cheering everyone on.
I started conservatively, ran with a couple of guys targeting 3h marathons, although they must have been well ahead of schedule as I was on about 1h27 pace for those opening miles.
Bit of a kicker at 8 miles, steady up and then tried to push on for the final 5. Pace was lifted, those last 8km all sub-4. But not quite enough to go sub 1h25 overall. At least I felt strong and wasn’t hanging at the end. Probably the worst result in terms of setting expectations for Edinburgh though.
??
Yeah, Warwickshire
Is that the May event or the Scottish Half in August?
Scone Palace Standard Du for me today. Trail runs around the estate so bring VaporFlys was a poor choice of shoe when running through fields
. Managed to leave my gels in T1 so did the ride on a bottle of PH1000.
Anyways limped home in 2nd place and 1st Vet
