A Tribute to Planet X

That won’t show your age. WSER will though.

I’m after some sram 10 speed r2c shifters!
And a red ( colour) 10 speed chain… if you know of any ?!

Towel was their big sponsored athlete on here.

Didn’t PX bring the affordable TT bike to the masses?

Pre-PX transitions were full of road bikes with clip-on bars. A couple of years later everyone had PX Stealths.

They did the same with cheap imported carbon wheels too.

It’s pretty bullet proof - 13 years old now and those days I don’t do enough cycling to justify an upgrade - I am an expert on the California 70.3 bike stage though

Friends on DVD?

Surely it would be a Coach Troy DVD?

My better half still has a PX/Lynskey Ti Pro Road bike from 2008

That’s the one!

About £1500 with full Ultegra, weren’t they?

I know someone who bought one and hid it from their other half :joy::joy::joy:

This one was a Dura Ace mix (different crankset) and was £1600

My most memorable purchase was probably 2008ish. A £14.99 deal for an On One wooly hat, PlanetX overshoes and a pair of PlanetX windproof gloves.

15 years later I’m still wearing the overshoes, the gloves have worn through on serveral finger tips but I still use them occasionally and MrsB who stole the hat still wears it camping occasionally.

I honestly can’t think of anything else I’ve bought (from anywhere) that has had so much use, for so long and yet for so little money. Bargaintastic!

I still have a SS and LS S2 version of that jersey also. the zip broke on the LS a week before Covid hit, been meaning to get it fixed at the local dry cleaners (money launderers) as its still in good nick. The SS has seen better days but I still wear it on the turbo

I have a set that is BNWT in a drawer somewhere,

Bought them in a charity shop in Royal Wooton Bassett a couple of years ago.

I would be getting the stickers off pronto.

Then putting the price up by £100

You can’t. They’re lacquered on underneath.
Pissed me right off.

I’ve managed to get them off my current ones, but it was a PITA :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::rage:

I’ve hardly had anything off them, some bibshorts and a top and my swimming float thing.

1st and only TT was a Stealth, and oh, she was so sleek and sexy.

Long since gone when I realised that this would be better for flatter courses during the descent off Kirkstone and crapped myself. Not for me and 25% and 33% descents. I’m just not good enough to control her

Additionally I am a crap cyclist and it probably never made much difference to my ability or results. Merely the ego

I’ve got a bunch of their helmets which I just can’t get on with. My head must be slightly the wrong shape.

I have a Pro Carbon Evo (just treated it to new wheels actually) and my OH has a London Road (which was an absolute bargain, 600 and something for 11 speed SRAM with hydraulic discs) and only a month ago got a Pro Carbon Evo Disc with SRAM ASX. An order went in for spare mech hangers on Monday evening!
