Currently have an Orange Crush. Good fun to ride
Sad to hear. My MTB of choice is an Orange Clockwork hardtail.
Always fancied an Orange, might be time to buy!
Also always fancied a retro fully rigid Konathlon, never taken the plunge, no idea why.
@funkin might remember him, Lester Noble setup Orange Bikes in 1988, Lester was one of the main guys on the UK windsurfing scene, and one of the founders of Tushingham Sails, who were one of the top windsurfing sail manufacturers.
My first proper mountain bike was an Orange, I had long chat with Lester, he convinced me to buy an Orange rather than the Muddy Fox that I had neen saving for. Great bike with some great memories
When I was a teen me and my mate were big into MTB. He had an Orange Clockwork. Was nice. His dad always seemed to have pots of dosh and had a titanium Orange which cost about 4k. He hardly rode the thing.
Sad to see them go.
Same as Mrs FB back in the 90s. She loved that bike but upgraded to a full sus Stumpy - and sold the Orange to a bloke emigrating to NZ who had to have it near enough sterilized due to the NZ biosecurity laws.
Never been a fan of Orange bikes they just look a bit agricultural by todays modern standards and also like they are made from girders!
I think that’s the appeal for many - might look shite but do perform well
Yeah that name rings a bell for sure. And as for Tushingham sails, most of my sails are made by them (and are quite old!).
Some good offers on wiggle
Are people still buying and receiving stuff ?
( haribo is no good to me !)
Yeah I’ve got some good bargains recently, my missus has had some great deals. Bought a jersey yesterday which was cheaper than a pint
I bought those 3T carbon gravel bars for £80 last month… that was a a bargain deal. They turned up.
another feelgoodcontacts delivery with a pen. I want my haribo’s. Only getting about 1 in 4 orders with haribo’s now
I had a 224 DH bike 2005ish , loved that bike. Definitely agricultural, but handled anything I could throw at it.
Talking to an “industry insider” today, Mike Ashley is still thought to be the favourite to buy the business, although apparently he’s only interested in buying the IP, which wouldn’t be good news for the people working there.
Decathlon has also been mentioned as a potential buyer.
Ashley would absolutely be the end of Wiggle as we know it, Evans is a shell of what it was.
Decathlon could well have upsides.
I think I would prefer it to fold altogether at this point, happy to go back to using the local guy.
And no more Amazon either
Suits me, online pound shop for the lazy.
If the alternatives were Ashley or Bankruptcy, I would prefer for it to disappear.
I used to buy a lot from Evans, not touched it since Ashley came in
Or when you live miles from any decent shopping areas, a vital resource. Other tat alleys are also available.
