Ha! Iā€™m currently banking on her caring so little about my little forays into events that she doesnā€™t notice they are different.

News this morning is that Halfords have also thrown in a bid for Wiggle/CRC.

Not great but a much better prospect than the sports direct twat.

Just received my Wiggle order this morning, theyā€™re still including the Haribo, at least for now

They probably have excess stock of Hariboā€™sā€¦ get them while you can

I did not get Haribo! Outraged. Maybe Iā€™ll write an email complaining itā€™s not like the staff there have anything else to worry about.

I used to get Haribo with small purchases but didnā€™t get when I bought a powertap wheel and a Garmin 800 in one go!

they must have thought you were obviously a dentist and wouldnā€™t touch the stuff

I do get Haribo from my contact lens website, so perhaps they are hoping type 2 diabetes will mean I need stronger lenses!

I have a wiggle order arriving tomorrow.

My son has two bags of tangfastics at the moment so I really donā€™t care whether wiggle pack the rubbishy versions

Haha, yeah, star mix is like a poor cousin

No Haribo!

I suspect that the boxes are not opened in the wiggle warehouse, just straight from the supplier untouched.

BUT they sent a second box with spares I had ordered, no Haribo either.

Also when did wheels get so wide? These are 29.8mm wide.

Given I couldnā€™t get a 28mm tyre to work previously this could be a problem.

I have wide rims on my rim brake bike and squeezed a 28 tyre on the rear. Clearance isnā€™t huge but the tyre doesnā€™t bulge so fits ok.

I have had trouble with having to remove mud twice but happy to put up with that. Bikepacking on both occasions.

Should add that still have a 25 on the front.

Also conti 5 season which someone measured as being on the wide side

Following ā€¦

Hmm, so the rim in there right now has a 25.5 diameter.

The tyre (Schwalbe) is actually 26.6. Despite being marked as 25mm. Looks like I could spare a couple of mm either side of the tyre, so something true to size will go in. (Assuming the rim itself will fit.

Only one way to knowā€¦ā€¦

So they went in, but it is super tight, looks
Like the wider rim means that the tyre is not so bulbous. And sits within the rim entirely.

Need to ride it to be sure, the wheel might deflect too much when out of the saddle.

Maybe 3-4 mm max either side on the chain stays.

Edit; the rim is the issue, might well be just too wide I suspect it will deflect and rub; these things are not that stiff.

Gravel bike might be getting these.

Might have to go older or used to get a deep set on this bike.

In English and for idiots, is this something I need to be worried about?

I was planning on running 25mm tyres on both which is what I have currently - but going for GP5000s to make them my ā€˜raceā€™ (ha, me, racing lolz) tyre. And keeping my current set of RS11 wheels as ordinary riders with a new set of All Seasons as my 4 seasons are basically done.

The spec says they should be 27.5mm wide, never thought to check when they arrived though.

Or is this about clearance on the bike frame itself?

Just checked on the Hunt website and my aero wide rims are advertised as 24mm so actually a lot narrower.
Thereā€™s no bulge at all on my 28mm tyre.

I would take a photo but just fitted the turbo wheel and tyre at the weekend

Hi, so this is about clearance in the frame itself, on the chainstay close to the BB.

The tyre itself is no wider than the rim and is fitting fine.

On the training wheels the rim is more like 25.5 when I mounted a 28mm tyre it was bulging enough that it was touching the frame.

I need to put it all together properly and ride it to be sure, but my suspicion is that itā€™s too tight and will deflect and rub when out of the saddle.

Worse case scenario I will flog them on in a few months and get some with narrower rims.

Or, they go on the Gravel bike.
