Fantasy TdF 2023: ***NO SPOILERS BEFORE 8PM HIGHLIGHTS***

perhaps similar to Floyd Landis’ breakaway in the 2004 tour?? although as we all know now, he had some chemical help, but even allowing for that it was a staggering ride.

IF he comes back it will be next week. He will ship more time today.

About 2 bags of blood should do the job

This morning I thought of Pinot after his thigh muscle was torn, sat in the back of the team car in flood of tears :sob:

I’d love to see him win today :fr::baguette_bread:

So, apart from everyone’s favourite cannabis farmer, has anyone else come back for an utter demoralising thrashing one day and spanked the whole peloton the next day?

That was the 2006 Tour. I was in Klagenfurt for IM Austria at the time.

Oscar Pereiro took 30 minutes from the GC group in a breakaway and put himself into the yellow. Floyd retook the yellow but then subsequently blew up and lost it again.

From memory, his initial explanation for his high testosterone was drinking whisky after losing the jersey

That’s what I’m loving about this years’ tour. Yates or G could be on for a flyer. Pog, is he going to have recovered overnight? Did he eat his 400g of white rice and have they planted a bunch of guys up the mountain with bottles to hand up? Will Vingegard get even stronger and take this race to the cleaners? How long can Bardet hold onto his position?

Whatever happens, we know there will be Frenchies in the break and it’s going to be a cracker.

We can’t forget that stages 16/17/18 also look epic and 10s of minutes can be won or lost on each stage.

Probably until about the fourth kilometre of the final time trial :joy::joy::joy:

He’ll then drop to about 86th :+1:t3:

Look at the opening ITT.
Lost 45s to Lampaert, 30s to Vin, 38s to Pog, 22s to Yates.

Lost 24s to the other Yates at the Giro.

He cannot TT.

EDIT: What we need is a 50km TTT or ITT. Like back in the good old days. That’ll calm them all down in the hills.

Nah, I reckon he’s gone long before the TT. He’s good at mountains but just not got the stamina for a 3 week race.

I love the long TTTs. They really put the team under pressure to perform and keep their guy in GC contention. At this point, it would put Pog out of the race as he barely has a team anymore.

I cant decide who to assign the stage bonus to. Pog is going to come back fighting and re take yellow (he looked wrecked yesterday), Vin is going to go hard and cement his position (no need is there), WvA or someone else goes in the breakaway and the peloton leave them to it???

I think if you’re going to include a TTT in the race you have to have it in the first few days or else you run the risk that a team has a run of abandons and doesn’t have the minimum number of riders required for a result.

I really don’t know what to do today; so just kept it as Pog :man_shrugging: Too early to use my last 2 swaps.

They obvs gave Majka more than his allocated share of the Team sauce yesterday.

He’s been great this Tour, good domestique.

I thought he looked like a flippin skeleton!

Right I have gone crazy, used one of my 3 remaining swaps, put Pinot in and assigned him the stage bonus.

This is either going to be a genius move or a total disaster

Some great comments above about not knowing the direction of the race

This is what it’s all about!

I have the obvious ideas of what could happen today, but the beauty of it all is - I do not know.

It’s such an unpredictable day.
So many variables in play.

One thing I do not want to happen is a pseudo-rest day damp squib;

Breakaway goes 15 minutes clear on Galibier.
TJV control the whole peloton at some Cat C pace, whilst marking every GC “attack” and bringing it back :yawning_face:

I guess much will depend on how Pog is feeling today? That said, TJV are so deep in talent, hard to see what he can do for the rest of the Tour. It’s still a long way to go; but the fact Vingegaard has such a Team makes the GC race look a little sewn-up…unless he cracks too.

Good opportunity for anyone outside the top 7 to fly-away in the mountains now; as the time gaps are significant…

I have Kuss
