Yep, me too. Managed to bag on when I was in Ireland for £10 less than here plus I didn’t realise you’re also able to claim the VAT back.
As @APM says, it’s a decent, less distracting version of the forerunner. I have the 255 model so internals wise, it’s almost a direct swap I believe.
I’d recommend it if you do want to hear something more comfortable in bed though I personally miss the end of day round up as well as the sleep report, in the morning though it might be less important to you.
In terms of activities, it doesn’t have any running metrics and doesn’t connect to external HR that does either and whilst it does rely on GPS from your phone for running and cycling, when I was on my bike, no power metrics loaded into the activity despite my Vectors also being connected to my phone via Bluetooth.
For me it”lll be a 9-5 wearer to go with my suit at work with a proper watch but back to the forerunner when I get home, so an expensive luxury really though has its uses if you get time to go out for a run at lunch time but don’t have your Garmin watch.
I didn’t think the 8 had been out that long, they feel a bit like phones these days with very limited improvements. It was definitely worth going to the AMOLED screen from the previous Forerunner for me but until the battery life starts reducing significantly I’m not sure there’ll be much to get me to update from my current watch for a couple of years.
There are still Epix 2 Pros (47mm) knocking about half price (£399), but tbh I’ve gotten used to my FR935 again, even though it lacks the mapping & sleep metrics of the Tactix that died. I still have the FR735 as fallback atm! I had quite a lot of redundancy built in to my inventory
ETA - I see H Samuel had them as low as 299 before selling out.
You lot are useless! I mulled it over with a club sandwich and coffee then went back and bought it. Can’t believe their warranty is 4y more than Garmin…for a used watch.
