Garmin questions

I don’t know what is going on with Garmin. This morning my 935 was really reticent to display elevation gain so I did corrections when got home. As predicted Strava bumped me up from 428m to 532m. But Connect put me down to under 400m  WTF is going on there?

Garmin connect is really strange at the moment. My Swim last night is not showing in my activities, even though it is showing on the Gamin Connect App on my phone. I tried to reload it and it tells me that it is already there.

My swim yesterday should have been 2400m, but was showing at 3500m (last time round it was 2100m) - lack of accurcy on OW swims is pissing me off. Apparenty happing to others as well

Yes your watch isn’t coping well with OW swimming. One of your swims the other week had you swimming on land didn’t it?

Downhill

What watch are you using? It was the one area of uncertainty I had with upgrading to the 945. The 920 never missed a beat. I’ve kept it for that reason, if the 945 really is crappy in OW

I’m using 935. Reading on some forums that it is much better in Tri mode than swim mode. May give that a go, however, doesn’t seem logical

My Wife’s 735 seems much better in swim mode too

You will always get some ‘land swimming’ when you’re close to shore; it’s not military grade GPS tracking unfortunately.

Also a new development, you can now have your Strava routes automatically be in Garmin, now you simply need to ‘star’ in Strava the roure you want.

That’s exactly what we were discussing!

:man_facepalming: Righto, I thought you were just talking about exporting the gpx.

I’m pleased to see that is new though and I haven’t been missing this for ages!

Stealing strava routes seems to work on free version, looking forward to stalking some profiles. @jeffb has a nice run route saved that I’ve always planned on doing, assume that’s the December race route?

Interesting, I found the 920 straps really fragile; they’d last less than 12 months for me. They’d split near the buckle.

Garmin watch straps generally seem to be made of cheese. My 735 lasted less than 12 months before it split at one of the buckling holes. The strap keeper went way before that.

I had an old FR70 HRM watch that went the same way after a similar time period.

I find the 735/935 straps more flexible than the old 920 ones; but I have to admit I only used the 735 for about 6 months before I got the 935. I had my last 935 for 11 months, and the strap was still in good nick; sent it back for the barometer instead

Agreed. I got through one a year for the 4 odd years I had it. It was like clockwork. Garmin usually sent one for free though.

First thing I always do when I get a new Garmin or phone: SCREEN PROTECTOR!
