Thanks.
Its weird when they don’t have something as obvious as a lap button. Think it was the Tom Tom watch a while back that was lacking that as well. Which would clearly be a fundamental requirement of a running watch!
Thanks.

No lap button on a watch would be a big issue
Sorry if I missed it originally but I think we need more info. on this incident
When I did my Ultra around Switzerland, on a descent I was forced off the road by a car, I ended up in a field with my bike tangled up in an electric fence. What followed was a comedy 5 mins as Robbie and I used various insulating materials to untangle my bike. Unfortunately my Garmin and Front light were never right after that. Suspect that damaged RAM in Garmin as it ran very slowly, turn by turn navigation was a disaster as I was at least 50m past turnings before it would register
I can’t match that but I did climb over an electric fence when out running once. More often than not around here they’re not live, not only was this one live but I wasn’t quite as tall as I’d anticipated either
Seems like there’s been an update to Garmin Express, and it now won’t transfer from my 910xt.
Has anyone else seen this? I had an older version of GE on my work laptop that worked fine, the newer version on my own laptop wasn’t up for doing anything… it would say ‘Transferring Data’ then nothing happened.
Has anyone had problems with devices staying connected, when they’ve switched to a new phone? Connection just keeps dropping. I’ve uninstalled the device on the old phone, removed the garmin app. Uninstalled app on new phone, removed/re-added device. Maybe it’s a BT issue with my new phone (Pixel)
Yeah, I did have that initially when I got the pixel 6. But it’s been fine the last month or so.
It does seem a bit temperamental with some apps, but that’s the drawback of being on the cutting edge android release. Some apps aren’t updated quickly enough to work smoothly. I haven’t tried recently, as I’ve not had any time to go to the gym, but as an example the zwift app wouldn’t recognise Bluetooth sensors for some reason. Whereas the trainerroad app would. So it wasn’t the phones fault, but some coding problem in the zwift app. My older Samsung was fine running zwift and connecting to the same sensors
fenix 6 not uploading this mornings run activity.
Synced yesterday, synched a second activity today after the run. But not the run.
have you tried obtaining the .FIT file from the watch and manually uploading it? It might have come corrupt. In which case you may be able to fix it with:
Not yet, as it’s a workout for a Garmin coach plan I’m hoping to sync it from the device otherwise I think it won’t be recognised as a planned workout. If there is no other way, I’ll do it as you say.
I just tried syncing my phone on another device and that dint have any effect.
I’ve also added a manual sync function to my watch, which hasn’t helped either.
I’ve been looking at the Epix vs Fenix7 most of the day (pretty bored with toothache!). If the Epix could run in GPS mode for 30–36hrs, it would be capable of a long ultra with no charging but it seems marginal?
Am I unique, but touch screen on a watch is something I feel I need to avoid.
For me, size and weight are also a consideration, therefore the 945 is still a better bet than fenix
I think touch screen can be completely disabled, if I’m reading it right? I wouldn’t like it either.
The 945 doesn’t do the mapping detail that I’d be looking for in my next watch. Night navigation and accuracy is a must on some of the ultras here, especially in winter.
I can’t see a touchscreen working well with my fat fingers. Definitely need a chunky button.
The 945 and Fenix 6 are identical in software. It’s just the case. At least that was the case with the 935 and Fenix 5.
Yeah I wonder if there will a ‘9’ equivalent for Fenix7 & or Epix?
Almost certainly. Although I haven’t been paying attention and don’t know how the Epix fits in the range.
9x5 - running, triathlon, sport.
Fenix - adventure and everyday
Epix ?
Epix is pretty much the same as the Fenix but I think it only comes in the mid sized screen option. It’s also AMOLED, so much sharper contrast and easier to read but you pay for that in battery life.
Epix has no solar option and no torch but it does have some kind of torch ‘simulator’.
Thanks @FatPom . Who is the Epix aimed at then, if Fenix has solar for the ultra types. Assuming they do release a 955 for runners and triathletes, who is left in the £500 watch market?
I only really started looking today but my guess is that Epix is aimed at the ‘less than a day’ multisport crowd that want a superior display. It is pretty impressive to look at. TBH, I find it hard to read my watch in all but the largest figures now.
For instance, without my glasses on, I can read the time on my 935 but not the date or steps. I can still see my pace but the smaller distance is getting a bit harder. It’s only a near sight thing, so I’d definitely be interested in something that makes it easier.
But that price, ouch!!
