Garmin questions

I know, same. I have 920 and 520 units both sat in a box. Thing is, they’d fetch so little it’s hardly worth the effort trying to shift them. So might as well keep them “just in case”

Yes, don’t think there’s any point selling the 920 and it could be used in an emergency but the 945 still has some value I think, it’s technically only 7 months old.

Yeah, definitely. It’s still my watch and can’t really see any reason to upgrade (seeing as I’m not actually using it for anything other than a step counter!)

Definitely worth selling the 945, I’ve got a 920 and a 520 plus sat in a drawer but they aren’t in great condition so won’t be worth the hassle selling.

I’ve off-loaded old tri stuff to new club members in the past. The warm feeling trumps the hassle selling them on would bring.

Go on, go on, go on, go on :grinning:

Hey, now my troublesome fenix 6S Pro is at the bottom of Langener Waldsee, I need some help/guidance with Amazon Prime Day in a couple of days.

I’ve been liking the sleep and Hrv, Training Load is good too.

If I forego those features, I can keep using my FR45+ and Edge 520+ and HRM, and maybe buy some Form Goggles (£249)

A new Fenix 7 is £559+ I think

FR265 I think has all the features of my old watch and running dynamics around £429

Or take my own advice and get a FR55

How’s it going?

Wait - you lost your Fenix in the swim at Frankfurt? :flushed:

Presumably that’s an insurance claim, no?

I hope so.

I’ve got a 265 and whilst I like it for all the features like HRV, training readiness etc I am not a huge fan of the screen whilst training (great at other times).

There’s a little lag when you flick your wrist to activate the screen, not too bad but enough to be annoying. The screen is pretty useless cycling but I use a head unit anyway.

I know a few others on here have the 965, not sure if they have the same problem. DC rainmaker never mentioned the issue with the screen but from reading the Garmin forums then other people do too.

Can you turn off raise to activate and have it on all the time like an Apple Watch?

Edit: you can. Just heard it on the review by dc rainmaker

If there’s any Prime deals on the 945 it might be worth a punt. Still a good watch although some of the tracker sensors aren’t as good as the really new ones.

@joex – So far, so good. :sunglasses:

Positives:
Significantly smaller & lighter than my old 305.
Lots of ‘new to me’ features (which I still need to play around with).

Negatives:
On ‘known’ running routes the GPS distance is out.
Can’t seem to find max HR for each session, just zones.

Overall, much more tech than I’m used to, so operator error likely.

Cheers, Paul.

There’s some good features that’d be on the Fenix 6 that aren’t on the 945 like hrv.

You can’t seem to change the 265 to a setting that’s great for running when sunny (fine whilst cloudy). Maybe see if someone at run club has one for you to look at.

So I settle on the only Garmin device you can’t buy on Amazon it seems  the FR265 doesn’t appear at any price on Amazon uk even in the Garmin store there.

I can get it elsewhere at £387 so I’ll just see if a better watch comes up at near that price.

Anyone used a Garmin HRM for swimming instead of a watch? The HRM Swim seems to be a really old device, so probably doesn’t support anything.

I have a swim from my 920 bundle. It was OK, but did fall down fairly regularly. When it worked, the HR data was easily the best info I’ve had though (in the pool). The strap started to warp though which prevented a tight fit. I’d always use a Tri/pro for races, as that’s stays put under a trisuit

I got a bargain on Form Goggles (purchases thread) £169 so I’m seeing what I can do with them. (31 mins left on the prime deal for anyone else curious)

Can you stop them steaming up though…

Nearly pulled the trigger on a replacement Fenix, the 7 is down a fair amount to £449, but just before ordering realised it doesn’t have a AMOLED display.

Insurance wont make a decision on their payout for 30 days so I’m dithering.

If I was swimming properly, I’d be tempted. Largely for OW training just to give me some sort of feedback (I know the visibility would be crap in OW).

Hmm, I do hope that recovery HR is a glitch in the algorithm :flushed::joy:
