That is one long line they had you on!

Something is wrong - I’m guessing it’s the faulty heart rate data last month

Mo idea what to fix though as I already trimmed that run file

I’ve turned these back on to see if it helps

Delete the run and put a manual entry in for time and distance?

I dont think you can deleted it cut/trim it and re-upload as I still knows to original data in the summary as far as I know…

According to the5krunner Garmin’s max hr is an age based default changed when the app sees an hr higher than that.

Ie it’s a peak value in training, not an estimate of your actual max hr as defined by a ramp test as the max rate your heart will beat even when pace increases.

It’s currently set to 193 except for swimming which is 178. So I’m going to set values overall and per sport based on what’s
been detected in the last six months and see what happens. Looks like it’s around 175-180. Edit 183 running, 178 bike and swim.

My Tactix is dead as a Dodo. Can’t even get it to register as mass storage device on the laptop. Has anyone done an out-of-warranty repair with Garmin or 3rd party?

Looking at the price & state of the ones on eBay, I’m not paying £250-300 for something that looks like it’s had a hard life already.

I’ve contacted Garmin when mine has gone wrong out of warranty. They offered a few things to try and when they didn’t work, offered a factory refurbed one at a discounted price. I can’t remember how much but I’ve done it twice with my 735 and the latest has been going a few years since then.

They’ve always been pretty good when I’ve got in touch or offered a decent discount on a refurb or something.

I haven’t done it for a number of years, but out of warranty replacements was previously something like £75. I did it a couple of times for altimeter failures.

Clearly I should have read here first before replacing mine. But the 255 was only £120 for a bit of an upgrade, and less likely they’d still be willing to replace a 735 now 10 years after release. That’s a reasonable life span with sea swimming included.

I’ve used the Garmin replacement program a few times when I had a 910, then 920, much cheaper that going second hand and even thought they are a refurb unit, you know it’s been tested and comes with a short warranty for some piece of mind. If they no longer have your model they also offer a newer one, but that costs a bit more. Google suggests £130 - £160 for a Tactix replacement.

Thanks! I’ll look into that. I’ve been using my old 735 for now, which Garmin actually replaced new in early 2020 for a faulty Barometer; it hasn’t seen a very hard life as I gave up Tri before I got it, then got the Tactix in spring 22.

The 735 feels so light and plasticy compared to the Tactix.

Rang Garmin and got offered the std 30% off a current model. I was surprised a FR970 is now £630! Then I went back and saw a 935 was £450 on release in 2017! (which surprised me).

I wouldn’t mind if they lasted more than 4 or 5 years of daily use FFS

The epic gen 2 is still £350 at HM Samuel. Think @Jgav got one too??
Having browsed again recently for a friend, I still think its a great purchase - despite its age and only getting minor updates.

That’s their business model, right?

Bring out a new model every couple of years and sell it for 10% more than the old model, which is still on sale

I think there are 1 or 2 happy Epix owners here? The Epix 2 Pro is heavily discounted atm. Garmins all seem pretty samey as far as functionality for sports/outdoors, just dressed-up differently.

I went with Fenix 7 pro solar sapphire. Its great, especially the torch, though do miss the AMOLED screen of my old watch.

With a 5 year warranty is this a no brainer? I’d be stoked if it lasted that long :joy:
