Hyrox

I’ll lick one of my dog’s turd’s if he’s not self-medicating.

It’s an impressive physique, but can he hump a 351 all day, plus 200 link, navigate at night without his phone and still think straight at the end of it all. I’ll take you.

Allana who works in “sustainability” travels to 6 different countries to do Hyrox

They could have written the same thing about Ironman 10 years ago, but they would have been focusing on slightly older age groups

£2k for any foreign Ironman is fairly cheap and that assumes you have the Canyon Speedmax already, as our friend hasn’t got any races so far this year it means Lanza 2027 will be ~£9k for him :grimacing::joy:

Total ledge ‘Ashley’ here. Had a heart attack during his first Hyrox event. 220BPM achieved.

Now happily sat up in hospital telling the world about it, stuffing his face with chips and coke whilst still wired up to the monitor.

Wishing you a long and happy life Ashley

Noticed a sign at the gym entry last night specifically mentioning hyrox training telling people not to leave treadmills running while they did another exercise!

There is actually a small running track but too many people just walk across it without checking if someone is running on it

I’m not sure why they don’t set the treadmills to stop if there’s nobody on for 10 seconds or something, a lot I’ve used in the past did that and if I was doing intervals I had to put a foot on the track to stop it automatically stopping.

They are obviously doing hyrox sims.

I and 40? Other people at my gym do them regularly, the ban seems strange but I can see the logic behind it

My gym has 22 treadmills

I wouldn’t be doing a sim at 5 oclock on a Monday ( busiest time )

1 oclock on a Thursday the place is empty so no problem

Never had an issue with a t mill but the sled whilst you are doing the first two runs can be “ robbed “ but I cover it with old towels so no one uses it

If someone really wanted a piece of equpt at the same time you needed it I would let them have it and come back to that station.

It’s just gym etiquette

Similar at my gym - but no ban - lots of people training for Hyrox. Two of the PT’s have also qualified for the finals in Sweden as pros - so its very much encouraged.

The elite 15?!

Or you mean pro weights? The world’s are all pro weight unless you are 60 I believe ? It’s a good sport with its own issues the same as any sport I guess.

I know one girl who has qualified .. everyone else came up short with 1-2 places in often huge age groups worlds qualification is crazy difficult now

Like Kona was a good few years ago.

Obviously super Tom ( local lad ) qualified in three divisions at Manchester

Not sure if he will do three races at worlds ?!

Is it not a safety issue with leaving an unattended treadmill running while you’re off doing something else rather than a concern about people hogging treadmills that they’re not actually running on?

Oh I see!!

I did think it was strange .. you turn it off

Big red button saying STOP after 1.00 km is displayed on the screen

I’m guessing someone at Jeff’s gym didn’t

Then someone else got on it and had an accident / shock .. can not see any advantage/ point in not pressing stop

Yeah I’d expect its a safety issue. I witnessed my friend doing intervals next to me with someone else and forgot it was on queue a fail video as he face planted the treadmill and got spat off the back horizontally.

I think people prefer to leave them on as they can take an age to get back up to speed

Right got you

Most industrial treadmills display “ user undetected “ after a min or so then stop for this reason

It takes ours 9 seconds to get from dead stop to 13.4 kph obviously longer for higher speeds

Nothing but pure curiosity, but do they use treadmills in any Hyrox competitions or are they always “real” runs?

The Matrix ones I think are the brand in my Puregym. They seem to take go off without someone on them after about 3-4 mins. Turning on and getting up to speed. 1 min+ easily so very annoying as you can imagine

Always real runs. Athx a few years ago did use assualt runners for the run portion but they’ve moved to actual run the last few years

All comps ( hyrox ) and even simulations ( lots of gyms now run comps as it’s that popular ) use real runs as far as I’m aware.

Certainly all official HYROX comps use real runs.

Obviously one lap ( London last year ) is faster than 4 x 250m as you are constantly running round a bend

Lots of people are actually running 1.1 - 1.2 kms on a t mill to make up for the roxzone ( the area between your station and the track you run on) some of these are huge now which obviously impedes total time.

A local pair went 59 : 43 open doubles in our gym ( watched them)

They went 10 seconds faster in an actual hyrox .. the sport is developing

Curved ones?!

They are horrible .. only used one once .. not for me
