I think it’s as much a safety thing in case people got on while it was moving, I’d say surely they noticed but they’re often oblivious to anything other than their phone
At peak times it is likely to upset people as well but the notice wasn’t particularly clear.
Seen several high level guys ( and girls ) doing more 4/800 m intervals than long steady 5-8 mile runs it seems these days
Lots train at altitude/ heat/ stressful conditions for obvious reasons I think Tommy fumbles did a 49?Min 10 k not long ago although he has gone faster so his stations must have been rapid to get a sub hour time .. he’s a pro athlete I guess
After World Triathlon announced a tie up with Hyrox governing body it looks like Spain tri fed (FETRI) is going all in on competition (stick translate on to read)
My mate entered us for hyrox Birmingham doubles again
Last year went well.. he is flying and if he could count to four ( he has a degree in pure maths ?!) he would have podiumed at Riga? Latvia I think
He knows people .. and has raced extensively the last 12 months, I’m quite fit hyrox wise but I still have three weeks left in Pattaya and will be back again in Sept …
It’s a good sport .. but it is a blatant cash grab now.. Ironman 2.0.
Racing in the rain was unusual and grip was an issue at the start of some of the stations, but no real problem to be honest. The event is well organised, cheap and very friendly.
Our judge was my ex PT who now works there so we got a fair run through and some encouragement …we knocked the run speed down to 4:30 kms and attacked the stations.
It worked as we went sub hour?! 59:47 I think ?
It’s obviously faster with no roxzone but all the equipment is genuine hyrox stuff, so as per the real thing… bodes well for Birmingham I guess.
The more “ traditional” athletes amongst us will be pleased to know we were the only pair that kept there tops on !
There’s a photo of the rowing machine seat after she used it - it wasn’t good. And videos of the staff replacing the matting from other parts of the course. Basically I saw one video on insta and then got fed about 10 more. In a running race at least you get away from the smell - but here I dread to think what it was like lingering around you and everyone nearby.
I’ve followed at least 2 people in triathlons that had done it, not pleasant after a 70.3 of gels
That’s not bad outside, I think it shows a lot of selfishness and disrespect to expect to continue and let others clean up your mess inside if you’ve kept going.
Mate of mine did so at Vitruvian - in his wetsuit. When I found out after the race it turns out that I was swimming behind him for most of the swim leg…
