Wait - is the bloke on the left wearing a beanie and tights but no shirt?
Haha, hadn’t noticed that fashion disaster ![]()
Can someone explain to me what the whole shirtless thing is about. I mean the dude here hasn’t got any reason to peacock that body, he looks in shape mind.
Back to front baseball cap ?
Leggings ?
Strewth he would be boiling indoors
One guy did it a T rex outfit .. he must have been dripping ?!? ( but obviously charity so good on him )
A very hard vigorous work out in the gym has me soaked. I’m talking 20+ mins at zone 4 and above. See Crossfit gyms and the amount of toplessness that usually goes on there. These venues can be pretty humid and having a sopping wet top on just isn’t comfortable if you can get away without. I’ll give you though it has definitely become a ‘thing’.
Half an hour of reps on the treadmill and my top weighs double, even during winter.
Not sure about the white tights though!
Simple. Hold the events outdoors.
Makes sense right, because the 300 Spartans didn’t fight in a sports hall.
If it rained .!
Oh my ! 32 kg kettle bells in each hand .. wet
And pushing a pro sled on a wet carpet even the Spartans would be DNF !
I see guys running in the parks in the winter without tops on even when the temperature is in low single figures.
It’s a vanity thing.
Isn’t there sweat everywhere in these venues?
At least if folks are wearing tops they’ll hold some of the sweat in and you’ll get some evaporation.
We used to train in badly ventilated rowing club gyms wearing cotton t-shirts and singlets. At least you’ve got “technical “ fabrics for kit now ![]()
In the events I’ve done
Not for one single second was I thinking “ what do I look like “ ?
“ how will the lighting reflect on my pecs?”
But you are 100% correct for “some / most” people, they really are more concerned about the photos for the event than there actual results / placings ?!?
I find this incredible but it’s the world we live in, I race topless like 80% ? Of the rest of the loonies as it’s simply cooler without a vest.
Burpee broad jumps are chest to the floor burpees then a jump for 80 ms I’ve never seen a sweat patch once, I’m sure others might have.
The sim we did outside in the summer was all pairs only one entry took there tops off so maybe there is something in what Jorgan said but in the Uk in the winter there would be huge issues with equipment and rain.
I know we take the piss out of you all ripping your tops off & flexing for the cameras as soon as you can, but who among us has not had our tri-tops zipped down & wishing we could take them off?

Not something I really do, my hairless pigeon chest makes me look even worse ![]()
Apart from the 45654344445 posts about “ best trainers for hyrox “
There is very little other equipment involved
I joined a post on “ best shorts for hyrox “ ( I know I know !) when I explained that I raced in tri shorts ( cycling shorts with less padding as we all know ) I was quite surprised at some of the reply’s ?
Was I gay full time or just on the weekends?
Was I joking ? Lycra.. not for me mate ?!
Yet we think nothing of racing outside ( for all to see ) wearing designer skintight outfits costing hundreds of pounds now ( there’s a huge performance gain I have explained ) while some of my HYROX friends find this strange.
It’s what you are used to and what you Luke I guess
I love both sports so really don’t care
Well said sir!
Did you not point them to the many guys wearing running half tights…cos chafing
Half tights ..!
Come on now .. ladyboys in Thailand is one thing ..?
But half tights .. that’s full GAY!
Did they oversell London? Seen something pop up on faceache today sbout people queuing for wall balls getting cold or recovering. Money geab? Bad luck? Or BS moaning for moanings sake?
I’m just catching up with this thread, pretty interesting, especially for someone that has the upper body strength of an asthmatic moth! ![]()
Re the shirt thing. Even on the hottest days training/racing in Oz, I have never felt cooler by taking my shirt off. I don’t get it and I’ll never get it. ![]()
Yes
Lots and lots of people moaning about packed out waves ( there are slow and fast lanes on the run but when it’s really packed this goes out of the window ) and miscalculation of wave times
Some bright spark even predicted “ I can’t wait to see the wall ball Q”s “ ?! and she was right ?!
Direct comparisons to Ironman as lots of the loonies are also triathletes or ex swim bike run people. It’s a business and money is tight these days it seems there expansion plans are crazy.
Hyrox is all legs !
Lots of decent competitors openly state they have average upper strength the elite age group and pro have very strong legs usually.
I agree with the tip off thing .. ish ..
my mates first bash was sim in Preston were the runs were outside 2 x 500m with a bastid hill in it?!?
He says “ no way I’m taking my vest off “
lol .. “ it is so hot this sport “ about 40 mins apart
He is now hyrox mad and targeting 60-65 AG worlds he is already a good enough runner but at 65 kilos he struggles with strength especially towards the end
It’s a really good sport.
100% agreed.
It’s almost become satirical at this point. All for the ‘gram, sadly.
